something like 130gm protein, all from a protein milk shake, usually blends, trace carb, trace fat, finish right before I hit the rack. zero issues with gut, nor sleep doing such.
We’d definitely be an arguing couple lol. Not sure where you live but that’s pretty hot for the summer for me!I keep the house at 70-71 degrees in the summer.
I wouldn’t call deviating from this “reinventing the wheel” and I surely wouldn’t say people eating carbs before bed for example are doing it from influencers pushing for engagement lol.100%. The basics have always worked. If these guys spent the time they do looking to reinvent the wheel on sticking to what works, they'd be better off.
99% of what I see is pushed by influencers looking for engagement. Thats all anyone needs to know.

It’s just about finding what works best for you.

Well… that was the topic being addressed in his comment initially however I guess I drew the conclusion incorrectly that it was part of the discussion. Apologies. No one said eating carbs before bed is reinventing the wheel. Im talking about all the hot topics people grab off social media and come here asking if anyone has tried it.
If that isnt influencer sauce, what is? The sugar diet? On a bodybuilding board, that would be considered reinventing the wheel.
I dont see these posts talking about these diets like they are doing it and it works so well, they have to recommend it. They are looking for input on it. Look into it and theres an influencer somewhere looking for clicks.

I think a bigger problem on social media now is people being unwilling to try things and always asking for permission from their favorite influencers. This is why there are so many stupid questions like “Can I recover from X sets for Y body part”.All good. I might have read into his comment further than he meant to convey with his post.
I assume he's talking about the number of post regarding diets that are so far outside the traditional way of doing this that it makes me think the guys asking in the first place ask a lot of overcomplicated questions when a bodybuilding is pretty straightforward for the most part.
I get the vibe a lot of these people arent getting the results they want using the "old ways" so theyre looking for the secret sauce instead of tweaking what we know works or hiring a coach.
Or maybe they just really like variety, results be damned. I dont get to involved in those posts but it seems most of the responses to them are of the mind I am.

Now that I think about it - my sleep has improved over the last weeks when I switched to training in the AM, judging by the lower amount of sleep I need (usually 8hours, right now I feel good on 6). A result of training early was that my last meal is now 1-2 hours away from bedtime, as opposed to right before bed - and I also do a short walk right before bed which further helps digestion. So who knows, maybe this was a factor in the improvement - but too many things changed at once, first and foremost bodyweight decreased, which always improves sleep by reducing apnea issues. And maybe training too close to bedtime also negatively impacts sleep.
I will keep an eye on it now that all the other factors are more consistent, for sure![]()
If I were to train in the evening I would never get to sleep. I train in the early am. After I work all day its not usually too hard to get to sleep. I was anorexic when I was younger; I dread going to bed hungry more than anything. It wouldn’t surprise me if there was some sort of physiological conducting that goes on with deep dieting where the body thinks it’s going to starve going to bed hungry. Its the last thing I do before bed other than brush my teeth. Lol. I have to get FULL. My stomach literally will not let me sleep if I get hungry. Hell I'm 52. What happened to slower metabolism as we age. I wish.
