How many of you have used steroids for decades? Any health issues?

I've been using steroids since 1992, so 26 years now. Off and on, although of course mostly on...because vanity. I've been on at least 250mg of test per week, sometimes much more, but usually moderate doses, since 2011 without a break. It's TRT+ for life now.

No major health issues that I am aware of, blood work and cholesterol are stellar. I had a SVT (supra ventricular tachycardia, rapid heart rate) in 2016, but that was related to overtraining from bodybuilding and training for rucking over mountains at the same time, and probably related to abuse of stimulants...caffeine, ephedrine, yohimbine, sometimes Adderall and Modafinil. Since I cut back on the overtraining and stimulants, everything has been smooth and I am in great health and strength and leanness for a man who is about to turn 50.

The key is use, not abuse. It is in our nature to abuse, because we have higher goals and aspirations than the rest of the population. But with a reasonable amount of sanity, and moderate doses, no reason why many people can't cruise and sometimes blast for decades.

But of course, your personal mileage may vary...

Started at 19, am 35 now. (1.5 decade)

No health problems that I’m aware of. Little gyno and low hdl while on. Recently had 1 kid and another on the way—after 16 years of juicing I don’t believe aas really hurts the opportunity to conceive. That said as much as I love this hobby; this new family/kids are causing me to reconsider my priorities/evaluate longevity more. “Just one more show/season...right”

I had used since I was 22 so 20 years and my experience is keep blood pressure in check. I never used aromasin cause I never got fun I but now I wish I would have to help with water retention and high bp. Now I have kidney disease. But I'm back in the gym and so far so good.

Sorry to hear that.

What do you contribute this too, AAS?

How old are you and are you still using?

Somewhat from roids by mainly not having a physician by my side . my blood pressure was out of control and being young and would I felt invincible. But I have started a mild cycle only injectable but have a Dr very close by. I'm not saying it's the right decision but for me it is what it is and it makes me happy.

I don’t mean to sound.... Mean.... Or call you out.... So try and take this like a buddy roasting you/seeking a bit of knowledge lol.... But being 42 with kidney disease and blaming aromasin/water retention and not having a physician by your side sound a little.... ridiculous lol... I’m not sure your genetic dispositions or your life, but that’s like me saying, if I had health issues because of my irresponsibiliies that I posted about, “oh had I only had a physician by my side when I was snorting coke like a Hoover vacuum and partying etc” lol...

I’m really sorry about your condition and I do hope you get better somehow.. I don’t know much about it but have heard/read it can be pretty serious.. But I only say/ask this because you clearly do what makes you happy as you stated.. So maybe there’s other major contributing factors to your condition that had more play in this than what you stated?

Now if you just don’t want to talk about it then it’s cool, your personal life... And again I do hope you get better my bro... It’s just I made a bunch of stupid decisions in my life and although I’m some years younger (28) I don’t know how they’ll effect me later on and when I hear of other fairly young guys going through things I want to know what happened and what I can possibly do for the future...

Take care...

Thanks homie. I understand what you are saying and it's cool. No harm at all. Thanks for your kindness and input.

Well, I have been using it for 21 years, I will be 66,so I started at age 44. If you would consult me 20 years ago you would not have this issues, however you can still contact me directly and I may have a solution for your kidney. Nothing public on this meter.

damn... that's like a retroactive 'I told you so'

I'm well over 50 (that's all I'll admit too lol) Been mostly on blast and cruise for 30 years. I had a major heart attack 13 years ago. 5 bi-pass surgery. That's right 5 arteries repaired in one shot. My doctor said it should have killed me but my heart looked like the rest of me, big and strong!!! He said off the record, weight training, and what ever else I was doing to get so strong saved my life. I told him about my steroid use and he said it had nothing to do with it. My heart attack was strictly family genetics. It killed my dad and my older brother. But my genetics gave me clogged arteries.
That said, still cruising, blast every spring. My regular check ups my doc kicks me out of his office and says I'm in better cardiac shape than him. So not saying steroids are harmless, just everything in moderation my brothers!

Some people infer that it is perfectly normal for a 26 year old guy to drop dead from a heart attack. Oh, it was his genetics. He had bad genetics. It would have happened regardless of the steroids. Just not true.

I also believe that men that have "good genetics for longevity" can drop dead at a young age from abusing steroids. Some guys in the bodybuilding community wouldn't question someone dropping dead in his 20s or 30s from heroin abuse, but if it is steroids then there is no way. The same folks balk at taking statins to control their cholesterol.

I am assuming that the 26 year old is likely Dallas that you are referring to. I completely agree with you. I started hearing the gossip that Dallas had a predisposition of heart disease/ heart attack based on his family’s history. But to die at age 26 is just insane and that did not make any sense to me at all, so instead of just believing the gossip I went ahead and did some research and looked into Dallas’s family and from what I found I cannot agree with the notion that Dallas comes from a long line of genetically flawed hearts.

The only person dead in Dallas’s family who I cannot find any information on is on his mother’s side of the family, her father, his grandfather father, H.W. Moore. His age at death is an unknown, I could not locate any obituary for him. However, his wife, Dallas’s grandmother, Amanda Moore, is still alive and is in her 80’s. Dallas mother Penny is also still alive and she is currently 53 years old.

On Dallas’s father’s side of the family, his grandfather Bobby Lee McCarver died in 2013 at 78 years old. His wife, Dallas’s other grandmother is also still alive and she is 83 years old. Dallas’s grandfather had two sons, his father James Lee McCarver who is alive and is 57 years old and his Uncle Paul McCarver who is also alive and is 48 years old.

Just off of this information alone, it is clear that the theory on Dallas having genetics that predisposed him to a heart attack in his 20’s are ridiculous. The majority of his family is still alive and the one grandfather who has a published obituary died at 78 years old, retired and in his home, yeah it may have been a heart attack but the cause of death at age 78 is pretty irrelevant when the current life expectancy for males in the united states is currently 78.4 years old. As for Dallas’s other grandfather H.W. Moore, maybe he did die from a heart attack at an early age, I personally do not know for certain, what I do know is he lived long enough to become a grandfather and Dallas did not live long enough to even have a child. Something does not add up with the argument that Dallas died because it ran in his family.

Then with me, my father turns 80 this year and has a decent heart. He does have Atrial Fibrillation but it was "fixed" by doing an inversion. Been fine since. No heart attacks. His father died from parkinsons at around 82 years of age. His mother died at 96 years old.

My mother is turning 78 this year and healthy too. No heart issues at all and it is her that has my genetic trait for blood clots. Her father, my grandfather, did die from a heart attack at 68 years old and I am going to guess that he had the trait. I just about died at age 38 though, while he was 68 with his heart attack. Up to that age he was perfectly healthy. My grandmother on mom's side lived to be 93 years old. Her brother, my uncle, is 81 years old now and still practicing medicine! He is a coroner and does most of the autopsies for the whole county. He also regularly is in court as a witness.

I'm the only one that nearly died at such a young age. First time.

Interesting Thread.
I started Cycling back in 78'.

So I just turned 65, and started Cycle #, who the Hell can remember.

No Health Problems as far as Heart/Lungs/Liver/Kidneys.
Joints have taken a beating, though I've been in Construction all my Life to.

Just finished going through a Double Hip Replacement, started in 2016 for the 1st, and 2017 for the 2nd.
Mobility and Flexibility is better now, then the last 20 years.
So this year is my Comeback year, and so far, so good............... JP

49 and been using last 20+ years...now have some pretty fucked up health problems...hiccups , gastro problems, erectile dysfunction even with Viagra and cialis...like someone mentioned earlier a lot of it depends on genetics...my sister passed away at 42 and mother passed away at 64...both from cancer. So who knows how much gear had to play with my health but I def would have done things a lot different ...take trt now with small dose of mast but no heavy doses like years ago. From like 27 to 44-45 I felt like fucking Superman and looked pretty good at 240-245 very lean and vascular year round . But in the blink of an eye it all changed and progressively my health has gotten worse.

Im not a blast type of guy by any means..but with all the stress in my life and the way society/america is headed sometimes i would feel relief if i just dropped dead from this shit.

You might feel like that now, but if a medical emergency like a heart attack were to happen to you now you would change your mind. There were times I had thoughts like that before I had my trouble. Its different once it happens for real.
