How many pullups can you do?

Headed to the gym in an hour or so to train back so I'll do pull-ups first to see if I can beat your score ;)

I'm 5'4" and 196. I got 15 with some left in the tank. Then failed at 15 and 12 the next couple sets. Went assisted for a couple more sets after that. I think I may have been able to do 20 that first set.
 
this allways fucked up my shoulder and never really could feel it in my back. it does take a long time to get up in reps.

I do chins on my cable crossover machine, but I welded bars on it for a "neutral" or "hammer" grip, takes the stress off the shoulders.

In my line of work I give pull up tests and if their not completly hanging and the chins not over the bar they don't count

Obviously if you are training just for results it doesn't matter and do what works for you... may that be partials or whatever. But if a guy says I can bench press 500 pounds and moves the bar 3 inches he can't bench press 500 pounds. Pull Ups are another example. If you go on you tube and check out some of the videos some of them are literally not performing a single full rep. Then you have guys who are doing them slower and more controlled with others going as fast as possible. This guy below done 43 reps in one minute with great form...

i stop at 25 for pull ups and chin ups. its an exercise ive done since my youth and 5 years ago i restarted back at i think 6, every week adding one more. Now i stop so people don't think im showing off and i get tendonitis in the elbow crack when I overdo them

Only got 25. first set of my workout. I was able to get 30 a couple of months ago though.

Not sure why I wrote great form as obviously not for muscle growth. He is obviously going as fast as possible and taking tension off on the negative so he can do as many as possible. Some of the vids on you-tube are ridiculous though. It would be cool to see some vids on here. I remember when there was a contest in the sponsors section ages ago. I can't even remember the full details but it was post a training video and I think about 3 people did in 1 month.

Tenny and Nothuman if you both post videos up who ever gets the most I will send you a pair of those pants as your prize :)
 
Back when I was a 150 lbs wrestler I could do 50 pull-ups. Now at 57 and 200 lbs I can do 25 on a good day.

I coached wrestling for many years. Our video game kids can barely do one pull-up. It would drive me nuts how weak the average kid is now a days.

I have a couple of wrestlers training with me know. When they started they could do 2-3 crappy. Now after 3 months they can do 10 good pull-ups. As I always say young kids can look at weights and get stronger.
 
Pump sets

8 sets of 10 with 30 second rest periods in between. @208 10%

3 sets to failure at end of back workout..sit in stretch dead hang for 3 seconds each rep
 
I hang dead every 5 reps just to keep straight or you can get off form. I do cheat to an extent but that much or you might as well be doing abs instead..
There's a huge difference between doing one up and one down then doing 5 in a rhythm real quick rsetting and doing 5 more. Now later on when I'm tired I'll dig deep and do one up then one down. I need a vid too

I remember that one. Did I post my video? I know I never entered but I literally have made 1 video my whole life for my anasci training log and it was a leg press one so I think I posted it back then too. I have actually just watched it and the form was better than I first thought. I will post it here... any excuse to reuse my only video :D Although the camera girl was crap and kept moving around :D Back then my back was so fucked I was worried going too far down. I don't think I could even squat or deadlift one plate a side at the time. I go super slow for reps most days and use better form but it wasn't majorly bad looking back. It's from a few years ago and I have been much stronger. 6 plates a side for 54 reps but I never trained to get numbers up and just had it videoed by my ex randomly. I have done 6 plates a side for 100 reps before but I did go fast.
