just curious how most people implement cardio into their preps. I personally only have competed once, and I got up to 1:30 every day except only 1:00 on leg days which were 1x per week. feel free to be more specific in the comment section. if its not listed just pick the closest thing there

30 min x 6 days

30-45mins every day of the week in the morning fasted is the sweet spot for me

I always give myself one day a week off weights and cardio.

I m flexible , I know how to feel my body out from thirteen years of bodybuilding. At eight weeks (im seven right now) im been dieting hard for 4-5 weeks already, and now is the time to do the cardio hard, so I do it hard, seperating it 6-8 hours between weights.

On off weight training days I do up to two times a day. usually 30-40 minutes at a time facepaced or slower paced maybe 45. depends on energy levels, and yes ive done hard intervual cardio this past week for 45 minutes on elliptical, or just walk outside. Im feeling drained right now, shows me ive been doing something right.. sex drive depressed mostly, thats a sign your doing contest prep right.

if need be take an Cialis with your girl, other than that I told her this is taking up all my energy

I feel I HAVE to do cardio everyday.... however, i'll change the intensity.....some days i'll do a moderate jog on other days sprints... whatever i'm feelin' that day

don't know about the point of that, gave myself a day off (well it was time lol)

and felt so lazy that it went even for the next day couldn't be arsed honsetly

did not do anything I planned, my shift was probably the worst out of all of them , it was proper fucked day.

will try not to let myself slip like that, even had 10 cigs because I really wanted to smoke and was even contemplating having a drink so I have made a note in my mind to never do that. on the + side at least I did not get any junk food but was thinking about it.

train every day is the way for me

I'm on my feet a lot at work and cardio tends to thin my legs out so I just go for walks at night with my dog.......I rely on the diet.

I am normally doing cardio daily at 8 weeks out...45 min..

So you rely on being in the calorie deficit? Can you please explain as this interest me.

2 hours a day 6-7 days a week.

This amount enabled me to cycle my carbs 550, 450, 400, 350, 300 and get body fat below 4%.

Low carb, low quantity cardio did not work well for me.

Below 4%?!?! Pics of what you looked like?

Did about 2-3 times a week 45mins last contest. Let the diet do most the work.

I get an early start. I have competed off and on since 1986 so I have tried every possible contest prep.....almost I think?;) I have boundaries I follow and most of the current stuff I do comes from Scott Stevenson and Meadows. I have a base calorie amount I never go under and I believe Lane Norton was the trainer who said to take your lean and multiply by 12....that is my base. I train 4 days a week in the late afternoon. My first 4 meals of the day on training days are protein/fats/vegetables and then pre and post WO are carbs/protein followed 2 hrs later by a final carb/protein meal. On days off my meals primarily are all fats/protein/veg and depending on how I feel may swap out a fat with a carb. Like I said prior I am on my feet a lot so I have a step tracker to monitor my activity level throughout the day. Get organized, never get too hungry or exhausted so distractions in our life become a non issue during contest prep....find your groove.

Show

A lot depends on the amount of bodyfat that I am carrying. If I am a little behind on prep, I will do 30 mins fasted first thing in the morning and 30 mins right after afternoon training.

For me personally, 1 hour up to 90 minutes a day but my carbs are also around 220 and I'm getting cheat meals/refeeds weekly.

I've always believed in eating more but doing more after reading around about metabolism, etc. A lot of people subscribe to the eating less and doing less thing but logically, as a living organism, it doesn't make sense to me to treat the body that way. I see it as a point of efficiency and use.. the more going through you and out the better. All systems are working hard.

I've never had small or soft legs either from all the cardio. I mix it up. Mostly it's low impact on the Arc or Bike but I also do HIIT. Prefer doing it on a track.

Everybody is different. I'd rather do my cardio and eat more any prep though. No low carbs for me lol

Mine has been different every single year, but i will say its never gone above the 60-70 minute mark per day. Normally i try to bang in cardio every day or at least 6 days a week.

I am off the preference off more/harder cardio to enable me to eat more food

Currently i am doing 45 Liss in the morning 15 HIT post workout, followed by 10 Steady state minutes, this is allowing me to carb cycle pretty effectively

Normally i will start carbs at beginning off the week at around 300, tapered down to 70-100 by the end of the week. And depending on how i feel, i will either have a whole cheat day, or just a cheat meal on the saturday.

I've gone from left to right in 14.5 weeks
