My current endo does not allow any of his patients to supplement with anything extra.
I once got a warning for having my test levels higher than they should have been at my "normal" hrt protocol - he threatened to stop treating me if it happened again.
On one hand, I understand his concern, as I could see it becoming an issue for his practice writing a bunch of scripts for T if all of your clients routinely test way above range, but on the other hand, I'd love to have a doc who I could be candid with.
Who has an "open" relationship with their doctor, and can speak freely about anything? What are the advantages/disadvantages of this approach?
Who keeps everything quiet & why?
Being in the United States, one of my concerns would be the legal impact full disclosure could have... I'm not sure what the laws would keep private, and what could come back to bite me.
If it seems that there is enough benefit, I'd consider "doctor shopping" for a better level of care.
If it's appropriate, please also state what country you are in, as this might affect the legality of any such decisions.
Thanks!
