How much do you spend on food?

I can see the leafy ones being somewhat similar in taste ... I tried frozen brokkoli, brussel sprouts etc and they taste so bad compared to the fresh version that I'd just rather not eat any at all lol.

I've done the quick dried medley (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, squash) from Costco and it held up OK. Steaming is good. Not 100% like fresh but I keep some on hand. Might be worth a try if you haven't.

Chicken in the US hasn't moved nearly that much. I still routinely see 1.99 to 2.99 per lbs range for boneless skinless breasts. Maybe up a bit over the last few years but not mega. Beef is our issue right now. Eggs got crazy for a while but came down. To some degree food is volatile, if prices and profits are high more will get produced like most commodities (price floor is pure cost of production and distribution which has no doubt risen).

I just moved to a frozen berry blend (raspberry, blackberry, blueberry) from Costco/Kirkland Brand. Super high quality, half the price and doesn't go bad. Not that I won't ever buy fresh but daily utility consumption this is a lot easier and no need to plan around my work travel either. Might do similarly with veggies as most of mine is green leafy so that and a frozen medley would be fine (nice dinners/meals is fresh of course).
I have 3 versions of chicken at my fancy grocery store. 2.29 is the cheapest but by fat has the most fat all over to trim off. 4.99 gets you antibiotic free from a super large chicken farm near here. Way less fat to trim off and more tender. Then for 5.99 the organic free range antibiotic free. As tender as the middle grade but slightly less fat to trim. Equal tenderness. I used to buy high end but switched to middle grade. I just cant buy the cheap stuff as it is tougher and I throw so much away it is probably closer to 3.99 anyway.

And I heard but cannot verify lol that frozen fruits and veggies are actually fresher than fresh as they are picked at peak and flash frozen where as the fresh stuff is picked at peak but then by the time transported and unpacked enough time has passed. I have that same berry blend and like it. Sometimes I throw it in a the microwave for 30sec and it softens just enough. I use peas and carrots mix as well as green beans frozen for veggies and they taste great especially in like a fried rice kinda dish. Throw everything in the bowl, 5g sesame oil and then into pan to "fry" add ponzu sauce to finish and sriracha on top and it does taste legit.

Shit is expensive prolly $150-$180 a week. My energy drink habit is $7 a day...
