First of all I want to say that I dose my Novolog to my carb intake and blood glucose level. I’m going to up my calories to help pile on the lbs and am contemplating placing those calories in the form up carbs in my pre, intra and post workout meals / shakes. I’ve essentially stalled at 4500 calories per workout day and 4,000 on off days. Saying all that, curious to how high you push your short acting insulin doses. Right now I’m running 20iu pre and post workout, for a total of 40iu per day.

I have a lot of carbs pre and intra so I havn't had any issues. I was also religious with my blood glucose monitor pre and post workout until I could do it by feel. I still check once a week just keep an eye on where things are.
 
If I were gonna run Humalog I'd start with 5-6 iu pre and post and slowly creep up the dose and if the blood sugar gets lower then add a little carbs.

I prefer Humalin-R as it's a little more forgiving , cheap and easy to get for day to day use but like Log for carb loading
 
I'd use r, start 5 iu pre add 2 iu each week. Once I'd hit ten keep it there and add a dose post. I always eat a ton of carbs pre and post workout so never had issues. Just make sure I have smarties in my gym bag and car
 
I use R 10/10 pre/post when using, been off for a bit but adding back in soon

I remember you said you were pre-diabetic. You also-ran GH. How often you take glucose readings?
 
Depends entirely where my BG is. Usually 3 or 4 units log or R. If log, 2 units pre/2 post. These days that will knock me down from 200+ to 120ish easily.
 
I have been doing R like this
5iu breakfast
5iu meal 2
10iu meal 3
Meal 4 none
Meal 5 is preworkout meal then 20iu preworkout when I get to the gym
Meal 6 none
Meal 7 none

Only on training days

Feel and look full

I won't stay on this. I usually do preworkout only.
 
I check my glucose reading roughly 3 times a day. Once fasted first thing in the morning, and then again a few times throughout the day after meals.
Very good.
