how much protein is really necessary?

Do all you guys take in at least a gram per lb? I'm curious if anyone takes in less...lately protein has really been messing with my stomach and I'd like to drop it down some. Im on a cut 212lbs taking in 225 grams..would dropping 75 grams and maybe increasing fats be detrimental? Advice is greatly appreciated.
 
Worth a shot bro. What kind of pro sources are you taking in? Maybe time to rotate them
 
Whey, ground turkey, haddock, chicken, eggs...my coach has me at 50 grams of fat so I have to eat lean sources.
 
I weigh ~200

I eat about 150-175grams a day.
 
Low carbs , the more protein you need.
More carbs less protein you need.
At high carbs , you can do 1gram/pound and be ok.
 
Even lower depending on bodyweight.
300lbs need 200g protein at 1000g carbs for example.
200lbs 150g protein.
 
Do you have any issues putting on muscle? What about when cutting? Do you keep the same intake?

When I take my diet serious no, but I don't always eat "clean". I use myfitnesspal to track my protein and even if I'm over my daily cals I will still eat enough protein.

Necessary for what? Growing? Maintaining? Living?

If you are trying to grow I would say to absolutely use 1 gram per pound and I would probably suggest 1.5.

I'm certain it's possible to maintain on less than 1 gram per pound.

Very subjective. For me to grow at this point im eating well over 400 grams a day
