How often do you change your workout routine?

every work out. if a piece of equipment that i want to use is being taken i move to some thing else. or i am trying to push more weight or reps every time.

Pretty much this.
 
I stick with the style that works, which is low volume for me.

I cycle through different exercises for each muscle though, as I find I can make better strength gains if I am not doing the same exercise several times in a row.

Then every 2-3 months when my mind and body needs a break Ill tone it down for 7-10 days and hit some lighter high volume training and just get a big pump for a week or so since this style of training means I dont have to get super focused and aggressive. It's a nice mental break.
 
I just feel like still being young(24) that I haven't figured out what exactly works for me, therefor I don't know if I could progress with instinctive training. Then again I haven't tried it in a while.... I'd love to just go in the gym and do whatever I feel like that day, but I feel politically incorrect lol

I've been doing this for 20 years so I know what works for me but I feel like you do...if I go in the gym and just do 'whatever', then I'm not doing it right. The only time I make adjustments is when I cant use a certain type of machine I like, for example the cable lat pulldowns. I've done those for so long, I forgot there were other exercises I could do in it's place. It works for me, so no need to change until I didnt have it to use.
I also change things when I dont see progress...but of course now I am more of a 'body-maintenance' lifter rather than a body 'builder'.
