How to condense songs, etc. when burning cds

I have heard a few people at my gym say they have made cd's with like 200 songs on them by doing "something..i dont know what" to get them to fit on an 80 min cd?

..well I have an audio seminar downloaded and want to put it on a cd but its 130 min. long ...do any of you know how i could get it to fit on the 80min cd???

Use software to convert them to Mp3 or ACC or what ever .
I use MP3 to Cd converter .

They're player will simply play compressed format like MP3, etc. Normal players will only play WAV until a few years ago, which will only fit about 15 songs since WAV is raw and not compressed. When you would create the CD with MP3s, you would create a DATA CD, not an AUDIO CD. Then drag the MP3s over to the CD. Since most MP3s, dependent upon what bit rate they are ripped at are about 5MB, you can fit up to 700MB on one CD.
If the car or home audio player has it, it will say MP3 on the CD player itself (usually). Once you insert the CD, it will spin up and traverse subdirectories, so directories on most are indeed allowed. It works much like an MP3 player and will usually list the songs metadata.

To expand on it, some audio & media players are coming with DVD double layer support with MP3. That means you can fit about 8GB of music on one DVD via MP3 format.
