How to protect hdl/ldl ratios ???

considering its no secret that aas and ancillaries can mess with lipid profiles how is the best way to protect yourself without using another drug??
EFA's, Fish Oils, ??? What else???
 
Here is the list I have been compiling...have not tried some of them.

limit Oral AS use (if using keep to 4 weeks max)

Red Yeast Rice extract....chemically identical to a popular cholesterol med called Lovastatin

Flush Free Time Released Niacin – 500 mgs before bed to raise HDL’s and keeping it less than 1200 mgs to reduce risk to liver.

1 glass of red wine most days of the week – raises HDL’s and the polyphenols help prevent oxidation of LDL’s.

Vitamin E – 400 iu’s per day to prevent oxidation of LDL’s.

Vitamin C – 1 gram per day - may prevent plaque buildup in the coronary arteries, increases vitamin E effectiveness, may help increase the body's absorption of chromium which may lower LDL’s and raise HDL’s.

Flaxseed oil – 2 tbsp per day – omega 3 fatty acids

High soluble fiber foods – beans and oatmeal.

High lycopene foods - lycopene may interfere with the rate-limiting enzyme, HMGCoA reductase, in the body's synthesis of cholesterol. Tomatoes and grapefruit.

High monounsaturated foods – almonds, peanuts, and olive oil – increases HDL’s.

Panthothenic acid – Vitamin B5 – (obvious skin benefits) – Will reduce the amounts of lipids in the blood having a positive effect on HDL’s and lower LDL’s.

l-carnitine @ 1 gram a day.

Some type of aerobic exercise most days of the week.
 
Would a bottle

of red wine cause better protection, cause more is always better :D

I use "lemmons Oil" its made by TJ Clarke for "Don Lemmon" I'm sure some of you have heard of him...Bit of a crack pot but the oil is outstanding...

I actually was using this for this purpose. Upon talking with Jethro, who's dad was told to use it, he said that IT CAN'T Be the flush-free type. It must be the regular to be effective at cleansing the blood vessels.

After taking 500mg each time (3x day) for about a week, the flushing seems minimal. :)

My friend was told to take 1500mg at bedtime by his doctor.
 
I take crestor which is a statin along with advocate for cholesterol health which contains non flush niacian and policasonal, i take kyolic garlic with lecithin for cholesterol health also and 3 gs of fish oil. Getting blood test tomorrow and i would also limit orals to 4 weeks. Use aromasin and nolvadex. Skip the liquidex unless getting ready for show. Eat whole grains and try some oatmeal in the morning with cinnamon.

If you go the drug route and take statins, Zocor has the best effect at raising HDL (though still only abouyt 10%). Prescription niacin has been used in some studies to get HDL up to 30% higher. Combining the two makes sense, and there is research going on to make drugs that only focus on HDL since research has shown that high levels of HDL can actually help clear out partially clogged arteries.

As Galaxy mentioned above, the armiidex is a killer of HDL. In my blood tests my HDL dropped from 55 to 6 after I used arimidex during a long diet cycle versus only a small drop when I didn't use it the year prior.
 
I've been using arimidex 24 week, .5 eod , just switched to femera. going in for bld test weds. been on a long time so I suspect I will have issues... I do use a very good Oil blend that I belive will help alot.. we;ll see..

I don't know why he was told this because this is grossly inaccurate information based on the information that I have seen over and over. I even did a quick search just to make sure that I wasn't having a brain fart and sure enough, all of the info I just scanned backed up that flush free niacin increases HDL considerably. In fact, one point was that niacin actually decreased LDL by 35% while lovastatin did nothing to LDL. I found it pretty impressive that it impacted both HDL and LDL, positively. I was originally only aware of the increase in HDL.

Again, nutrition and supplementation before looking to a drug.

around 30 grams of soyprotein a day seems to lower bad cholesterol and prevent oxidisation of good cholesterol. Atleast from what I have read the last few days.
 
Hey, knew here, what's up.

Anyway, you can also try benecol. it's a butter that you can buy in the grocery store. you eat it with your dinner, just follow the directions. Most of your body's cholesterol is made in the liver and stored in the gall bladder, dietary cholesterol is actually very minimal. When you eat something, the gall bladder releases bile into the small intestine (helps digestion), along with the cholesterol. Normally, the cholesterol released into the digestive tract is reabsorbed back into the blood stream. Benecol prevents the reabsorption of cholesterol so you just excrete much of the cholesterol, thereby lowering your level. It does help especially if your ldl is high.

Advocate?? did a search for it and can't find it...did u spell it right??
policasonal sounds good got some info on that.. that and niacin would be a good combo with no drug side effects.. I don't want to take a drug to to protect my lipids from effects of AAS..or anti e's

Just got a call from my Dr. I'm good....no probs..blood counts and liver counts good.. hemaglobin High??? gonna have to check up on that but I assume its cause I smoke...either that or from test.. I'm only on 250mgs of enth right now so that probly could raise red blood cell count...
Thx for the advise guys I'm gonna incorporate some of this into my regimine for future protection... At least I know I'm good......cause I got some EQ thats callin my name baby!!!!
 
i just got blood work back and my ldl was 88 and hdl was 34. I was happy.

triglyverides high 337 (i am always high)
HDL: 38
LDL: 85
VLDL: 67 (high) should be under 40
What is VLDL??
and what can I do about it??


HGB and HCT were just barley over norm.. which doesnt concern me...
 
Lipitor for high Triglicerides

Hey, I've had genetically high cholesterol my whole adult life. It totally sucks, but that's what working out hopefully will help lower. Anyhow, my good cholesterol is always on the high side, and my overall lipid count was around 230 (it's genetics and I blame my dad)... but since my triglicerides were really high, I started taking Lipitor. It totally cut down all my blood lipids, and significantly lowered my overall trigliceride count to below 150.... so I recommend taking Lipitor for high lipids in general.

Yes it is from the test. My rbc and hgb go up when on test. The doc assured it was from the test but said it is not a big deal.
