I like and appreciate the conversation I started on this topic. My blood work is fine. This is strictly related to my hrt. My fertility doc wants to make sure that this is what the problem is. He's new to me so I understand he doesn't want to take my word for it. This is just a hump I need to get over. I figure, whatever I learn will be education for all.

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To document for the first time the successful treatment using human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and human menopausal gonadotropins (hMG) of anabolic steroid-induced azoospermia that was persistent despite 1 year of cessation from steroid use.

DESIGN: Clinical case report.

SETTINGS: Tertiary referral center for infertility.

PATIENT(S): A married couple with primary subfertility secondary to azoospermia and male hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. The husband was a bodybuilder who admitted to have used the anabolic steroids testosterone cypionate, methandrostenolone, oxandrolone, testosterone propionate, oxymetholone, nandrolone decanoate, and methenolone enanthate.

INTERVENTION(S): Twice-weekly injections of 10,000 IU of hCG (Profasi; Serono) and daily injections of 75 IU of hMG (Humegon; Organon) for 3 months.

MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE(S): Semen analyses, pregnancy.

RESULT(S): Semen analyses returned to normal after 3 months of treatment. The couple conceived spontaneously 7 months later.

CONCLUSION(S): Steroid-induced azoospermia that is persistent after cessation of steroid use can be treated successfully with hCG and hMG.

Get on HCG, HMG, and clomid and you should have no problem getting your sperm to good numbers.

Yes high levels of prolactin can encourage infertility but there's no reason to assume his prolactin levels are high as he's not on an 19-nors nor did he say he has a history of hyperprolactinemia. In my opinion a dopamine agonist is not necessary as well unless blood tests show a high level of prolactin for some reason.

There's no reason to assume anything. I didn't see anything in the O.P.s first post that said he never did any 19nors in any cycles after starting TRT.

I wasn't advising him to do anything other than read up on the various factors at issue.

By the way, I'm not against you at all, I just really value open mindedness. Peace.

Stay on TRT, just add some HCG and HMG and possibly clomid. In most healthy individuals it will temporarily reverse AAS induced azoogliospermia. Of course TRT will shut down gonadotropin production (LH and FSH) and anyone who told you otherwise is an misinformed.

I guess the word "temporarily" kinda freaked me out a bit. I want to have more kids... (or at least have the option open)

Update:

The fertility doctor did not want me taking HCG first. He wanted to see if the problem was what I said it was. Basically, like all doctors, he didn't like me knowing something he should be informing me of . Anyway, I feel like shit and went to my original doctor. He is putting me on 3000 iu of HCG 3x a week. Hopefully this will get me jump started. I don't feel like having sex and am having a problem keeping it up. Kind of defeats the purpose of all this because the goal is to get the wife pregnant.:banghead: So i was given some viagra and levitra.

So out of all of this, I got a question for you guys. Won't taking 9000 iu/week increase my estrogen to a point that I should be taking arimidex or clomid? Seems I would need that but my doc didn't even mention that.

I'm glad I read your entire post before responding because that was going to be my question. I've seen guys claim to get Gyno from a lot less than that. I would ask to be given something and would probably be looking for a doctor that isn't so threatened by your knowledge.

1 cc T and 1 cc Eq a week was enough to give me a count of basically nothing and most importantly no active sperm. Took 1.5 years off of EVERYTHING (still trained) and my count per the Mayo clinic was 64,000,000. My wife and I did three rounds of IUI and walla, a (Mayo miracle) healthy baby boy.

I know I should be on HRT according to my blood work but just not worried about it right now while I am deployed good luck for some it does not come back. MM

when you're not on HRT,have you noticed any sign of depression? and how was your libido?any sexual problems?

I want to say about a month after quiting HRT, my libido and my willy went south. It will be different for everyone. Using oil can sometimes leave the body at different rates. I would say starting at the 3 week mark would be where I would start to look for the decrease.

Haven't started HCG yet but it's Monday. It should be this week.

The only depression I've had is from not being able to keep it up. Viagra has helped and stopped any depression I had. My body aches and I don't recover fast at all after my workouts. Feel like an old man. It's all good though. I'm doing this to have another child. In a year, hopefully I'll look back and see that this was all worth it
