Is Gh covered by insurance?

my understanding is that a lot of people are getting railed in the butt for GH prescriptions. initially the script will go through as covered but then the insurance will audit your acct, realize that GH is not a "necessary drug" and will charge you for all of it. i believe there are several threads if you do a search about that on here discussing it. you don't want to get slapped with a 4-5k bill out of the blue

They have a three tier prescription drug program that you pay a percentage of the total cost for. The generic ones aren't too bad but the ones like I use don't have a generic version so you pay the third tier cost which I believe is around 15% -25%. I never used it for that because the cost was too much. I'm sure test is probably a third tier drug with them. I'll find out soon if I go on HRT.

just broke open my coverage information:

generic formulary: member pays 10%
brand name scripts: member pays 20%
non forumlary scrips: member pays 40%

so i am assuming that is the 3 tiers?

atleast that means i get 40% coverage if TRT is in that profile, better than 0% on my last plan...

That sounds about right. Mine was 20% copay. It means you pay 40% of whatever the total cost is for the drug. So say the test was $150, 40% of that is $60, your co-pay.

Sounds like a nice plan. What's your monthly or weekly premium, if you don't mind me asking? BS/BS is more than most of the plans offered around here.

I've been on Neighborhood Insurance, Blue Cross Blue Shield and AVMED. Avmed was a big PITA and had to get special approval.

Blue Cross (depending on your plan) offers injectibles for HRT.

AVMED - Adrogel only

Neighborhood - Androgel

Been on the gel for over a year.

On a side note my doc gives me 6mo worth of scripts for Andro. I get the pump bottle and it comes 2 in a pack, which is actually enough for 2 months. So I am getting 6 free bottles a year. I keep my doses around 6 pumps a day, and was reccomended to do only 4..
