Guys I just recently heard that Humalog does not cause any insulin resistance with it's use... Is this true? And if so how and why? Thanks in advance.:D

Doesn't sound right. Isn't insulin (any variation) still insulin, just like test (any variation) still test?

XC, it doesn't quite work that way. Insulin isn't a single molecule, but a protein. Humalog is actually a modified human insulin. Two of the amino acids have been switched (B28 and B29). Insulin molecules usually dimerize (pair off) then these dimers then come together to form a hexamer. Your body has to pull these things apart before the insulin can be used. Switching these amino acids in the chain doesn't alter the protein function, but it does prevent them from dimerizing, and consequently forming a hexamer. This means that the protein is immediately available for use.

I have no idea whether the modified protein structure has any effect on insulin resistance though.

I believe that the modified structure of Humalog has something to do with the time of activity in the body. It is possible that Humalog is less likely to cause insulin resistance because it is fairly short acting and the time of activity in the body overall is less so your exposure to it is not a long in terms of hours per day as it is for regular insulin which is considerably longer acting. Just a theory on my part but possible. I was just thinking this because a lot of guys do two shots per day, one in the morning and one after a workout or in the evening if they didn't work out and they do this the same way regardless if they are using regular insulin or Humalog, etc.
