Humulin n vs lantus

Of course, perhaps I should’ve phrased my question differently. What more specifically were you seeing in your personal experience/clients that changed your views on it? Similar to others as far as midsection growth and detail?
maybe differently - I think that anyone who wants to be a super heavy bodybuilder needs one offseason in which they will push their weight and size to a new level and then you can use lantus for this but also be careful not to destroy your proportions and waist. I did it for years + I pushed a huge amount of protein at the same time and it was a mistake looking back

out of curiosity how is lantus supposed to destroy the deck? many uk players still recommend it. jewett probably stopped but also used it in recent years.
Yeah, several uk pros still use Lantus and the majority of prep coaches in the uk still employ it in their stacks.

Wouldn’t 10ius of lantus only be .5iu an hour? What benefit would this have?

Wouldn’t 10ius of lantus only be .5iu an hour? What benefit would this have?
1. Improves IGF-1 Conversion from HGH
Growth hormone increases insulin resistance, which can blunt IGF-1 production.

Adding Lantus restores insulin sensitivity at the liver, allowing for higher and more stable IGF-1 levels — crucial for lean mass retention and growth.

Studies show that basal insulin (like Lantus) improves hepatic IGF-1 synthesis more than short-acting spikes.

2. Enhances Nutrient Partitioning
At 10 IU, Lantus mildly increases glucose uptake into muscle cells, favoring glycogen replenishment and protein synthesis.

Helps direct nutrients away from fat cells and into muscle, especially when carbs are consumed strategically (e.g., peri-workout).

3. Preserves Muscle During a Caloric Deficit
When cutting, 10 IU of Lantus blunts catabolic hormone activity by improving glucose availability to muscle and enhancing amino acid transport.

Helps preserve lean mass even in a hypocaloric or low-carb environment — especially when paired with HGH.

4. Flat, Predictable Insulin Action (24-hour window)
Unlike Humalog or Novolog, Lantus has no peak, so there’s little to no risk of fat spillover if diet is clean.

That flat action mimics endogenous basal insulin secretion and prevents blood sugar highs caused by GH use.

5. Improved Insulin Sensitivity (With Proper Diet)
At low doses (10 IU), especially with a lower-carb diet and cardio, Lantus can improve insulin sensitivity over time, priming the body for a leaner rebound into a growth phase.

I am of the opinion that practically no one needs insulin lantus in bodybuilding - it actually does more harm than good unless you want to be a mass monster and you don't look at the health consequences and the fact that you can lose the good proportions of your physique
I know you've said things like "bodybuilding is moving away from mass monsters" which may be true.

Are you just advocating for guys to return to classic physique? Or do you think you can still get guys to 240-250lbs on stage without lantus? You also do humalog pre & post at only 10iu.

So then what, just use a bunch of GDA and do a bunch of cardio to keep blood sugar in check? Like literally berberine with every meal and metformin at 1000mg every day. I guess that explains the 12k+ steps a day thing...

This...if it is used, it needs to be used very sparingly and in low doses. I have seen higher doses in guys and it put "Size" on. But ruined detail and shape, and waist line.
How do you control blood sugar while pushing guys up into superheavy though if not using lantus? A lot more humalog (just pre and post)? More cardio? A bunch of GDA's?

lots of exercise - most of my guys don't use any gda. They do lots of cardio, lots of steps, high volume training, carb cycling, no junk food and a diet based on clean products, keeping hormones like e2, prolactin in the norm really works

and whether someone can reach 240-250lbs and more on stage is a matter of genetics because most won't achieve it even using 5-6g gear and 100iu insulin

No, I dont use neither lantus nor humalog to control blood sugar. As luki said, cardio, steps, eating CLEN, controlling BF, training hard...but I do love OTC GDAs...they work. Ive seen them work with type 1 diabetics back in 2015 and that was the start of my interest in them. Used them ever since. Great tools

Eating clen would absolutely do it. 😂 Just giving you crap, we all know you meant CLEAN. Lol

Please don’t eat clen anyone. But guys simply need to not get fat and do cardio to control BG. Pretty simple stuff.

Thank you!! 😂🤦🏻‍♂️… Man I really should start proof reading before posting lol

Even at 9-10% bodyfat (a true 9-10% as I could see all abs and veins everywhere and very defined quads etc.) I always had trouble with my fasted blood glucose. On an Hba1c test it would return like 5.2 but fasted at home with a glucometer I'd get like 6.0-6.8 and I'm not sure what my prandial glucose was as I never tested it.

I did 120-130BPM fasted cardio. Maybe 7000-8000 steps a day. Trained 5x a week. 1 cheat meal a week. Still had high blood glucose...

Am I not doing enough or would there be a different way to fix this? Been considering trying 1 pill berberine with every meal or something I just don't know what I'm doing wrong here. I get it's individual for everyone...

How long was the fasted cardio and how is sleep?

My .02 cents…insulin works and works very well, that being said for me personally I would only use it pre-workout at this point in my life. Now back in the day that’s a whole different story 😂 for what I think is the best and makes the most sense would be humalog. JMO Also for the guys reading this that have zero experience with slin…start on the low end !!!!!!! A little goes a long way 😉 you can gradually increase your dosage as needed but from my experience you don’t need a lot to experience the benefits of it. 😎👊🏻💪🏻

Which one is it? You are or are not 10% bodyfat. I also know @luki7788 kept your BG in range as he is very on top of health markers. So what were you doing then?

I am not currently 10% bodyfat. I'm not talking about right this second. I'm saying even when I was 10% bodyfat. And actually no my BG was an ongoing problem even then but Luki was well aware of it and trying to fix the ongoing issue. Wasn't trying to start beef with Luki over this but alright

Fasted cardio anywhere from 20-50 minutes every day.

Then sleep is pretty terrible. Always had sleeping problems. My entire family does.

I have a sleep study scheduled for August.

Didn’t think you were trying to start one. Just know he is very ontop of this stuff as a coach. Sounds like you guys didn’t stay together long enough for him to help you get it fixed.

Seems sleep is an issue for sure, but someone would need a full intake of your diet, lifestyle, bloodwork etc to be able to fully assess your case properly. Not sure any of us here can properly help without all that. It may be worth getting another coach such as @luki7788 or @IFBBProDomCardone to help you get to the bottom of it and back on track.

Luki was a great coach but I really want to coach myself for the foreseeable future. Was with him 2.5 years or so. I’m hoping the sleep study will help and then just taking a bunch of berberine. Keeping fasted cardio and steps the same.

I’m also on the verge of running a high testosterone-only cycle with duta + oral minox to avoid hairloss. Avoiding DHT derivatives or any of the less “hair safe” compounds and no coach is going to want to navigate that and using so much AI for that while still trying to grow etc.

In other words, I’m not worth dealing with even if I’m paying you for it. Too many things I won’t do/want to do/care about more. I want to ask questions here on the forum and devise my own plan
