Starting taking liquid collagen for my joints. Just curious what your opinion is on it as a general protein source, does our bodies use it as effectively as other sources like whey, egg, etc..

Brother, this is the protein source in LBA's. Take from that what you want.

It is an incomplete protein, and shouldn't be used as a protein replacement if building muscle tissue is the goal of supplementation. It does have some good uses, but muscle building isn't one of them.

From a nutritional point of view, collagen and gelatin are a poor-quality sole source of protein since they do not contain all the essential amino acids in the proportions that the human body requires—they are not 'complete proteins' (as defined by food science, not that they are partially structured).

I think collagen only misses one amino acid - tryptophan. In general, hydrolyzed collagen is considered a very high quality protein. For best results, it's best to mix protein sources in order to get a full blend of amino acids... But I don't think that's a problem, considering how much chicken, beef, and milk protein bodybuilders eat during the course of a day.
