That's an interesting observation. I always thought the injection should be administered into the most relaxed muscle possible, but I've done many trials on quads, and the best injections come out when my leg is simply at a 90-degree angle. As if I were sitting in a chair. It's neither a tense muscle nor a fully relaxed one.
What I gave is best/practice and thinking and very general across muscles and population. It was more detail and consideration just for thought (ie "interesting" as you said).
When it comes to rubber meets the road, I will flat out say to go with your experience if it's been a good one. You know your body and you've had a long series of success. I would do exactly the same as you were doing and stick with it if I were in your shoes. If you ever start running into issues in quads or somewhere else, think along these lines and maybe adjust.
