I BROKE MY QUAD TENDONS ON BOTH MY LEGS - need help!

I understand completely. I went through the exact same situation. I would open my braces just to get some air on my legs. They got very hot and as the incisions heal, your legs itch. I had mine on during the summer too. Plus, just laying there waiting for the time to pass sucks. I remember counting the days I could get started on my PT, literally.... anything to get moving again and out of that damn bed. Some days it REALLY grated on my nerves.

You can try elevating your legs some, that helps with the swelling too.

I did the same, would itch sweat and the inflammattion sucked.
Kept leg elevated and wore compression stockings.
Worked very well.
BTW everything we take fks with our body tendons and muscles GH anabolics and the thyroid-
first thing my ortho di was look at my thyroid levels which were a bit off from AAS/GH use.

Hmm very interesting....

I have an underdeveloped thyroid but the blood test returns accetable thyroid hoemone levels, , anyway that's a fact to investigate on more deeply...

today I had a 30' bending

I can't describe the exact sensation... it's not exactly pain, it is an extreme tension, I have the sensation my tendons have to snap time by time its an umcomfortable siuation and I was told rehab is even worse (i.e. painful). In your experience how long did the "painful" part last? So I can figure out better what I have to expect....

Its most painful at the beginning of rehab. You will be very stiff and weak after being immobilzed for so long. They do take it slow though. When I was doing my PT, they wanted me to try to gain 10-15 degrees more flexibility each week. As I pushed for more flexibility, it was uncomfortable in the knees. Everything just felt very tight and stiff in there. As you gain your flexibility back, the pain goes away. I found the fact that I was was weak in my legs more annoying really. That comes back too. At first they concentrated on isometric movements, then I was moved up to resistance exercises as my flexibily improved. As my flexibility, strength and balance improved, I was weened off the braces

I AM BACK!

UPDATE

I spent a long time at rehab hospitals, around 8 months and its 3 months i am carefully training in the gym, the result is that i never had my upper body so big! but i became also too fat :(

I thank you all on this board for the gr8 support you showed me.

btw my problems are not over, my right knee has a kneecap slightly out of its place but i dontknow where to go for a professional opinion from a specialist... i think i need a second minor surgery... any suggestion for that? do you know a good doctor who deals specifically with knee injuries in bodybuilders?

Hey BigMax,
Good to hear you are up and around again! Feels pretty damn good, doesn't it?

What does your surgeon say about your knee? Any possibility that with time, use, and muscle strength, it will position itself correctly?

CTGF (Connective Tissue Growth Factor) would speed up the recovery time.

Not trying to hijack this thread but I just had my bicep reattached in mid june, would ctgf help my recovery? thanks

Yes.

I have few people useing it post surgery with 50% faster recovery, most of clients are Dogs, veterinary professionals are useing my product for post surgery recovery, the pet verzion is calld DOGtorRx.

the surgeon simply told me i must stay away from working out for one year from the date of the surgery (august 1st) but actually they put me on the leg extension and leg press forr rehabilitation purposes (i have been doing it since march in an quasi-isometric fashion (no more than 20" of flexion) yesterday i tried my first "regular" set of leg press on 440lbs and strenght is ok, but the fact that left kneecap aka patella is not centered gives me problems when i walk (curious, i can workout well but walking is painful!) I know Milos Sarcev had the same issue and had a second minor surgery to fix it... but i don't know who can really take care of me as an athlete, furthermore a long time paltellar-femur conflict may cause serious arthritis... so i think the surgery is to do anyway.

Your surgeon is more conservative about letting you get back to your workouts than mine was. From the time of my injury to getting back to training legs was about 8 months. As far as training, my surgeon told me that I could do whatever I wanted in the gym, but just make sure my feet were on a flat surface when I trained legs. I was forbidden to ever do leg extensions again. He told me that over time that these aggravated arthritis in the knee, and I don't remember the medical term he used for that.

I could not recommend a surgeon to do your minor repair, sorry. It sounds that during the healing process, the patella may have pulled a little out of position during your period of immobilization and healing. I would do research and find a good sports ortho surgeon to fix that… in your area if possible. Do you have at least 90 degrees of flexibility back, hopefully much more?

??????????

Do you think that maybe during your rehabilitation that you may have over developed any muscle in the quadracep? Or maybe underdeveloped? Has your therapist tried taping the knee cap to keep it in line when training?

Just a couple of thoughts, I have been there............

I was very disappointed about this, it ssems like in Italy they can cure well only soccer players! if I have to do a financial sacrifice to put the things working with a surgery in US a I will, but only if sure 100% about the guy who will operate me. I wrote to Milos Sarcev to ask for a suggestion it but had no answer at all.

On 2 rehab centers out of 3 I was to i did leg extension, the first on the isokinetic machine and it was very painful on the first reps (because the articular conflict) the second one on a regular rehab leg extension but on isometric steps at 0/15/30", now i'm doing it at 3x6x10sec at 0"

my rom is amost complete, around 140, before the injuy i wasn't able to flex like that because the femoral bicep mass...

yes, my surgeno was overly conservative making my rehab more long and painful, but in his shoes i did the same, he wanted to be sure my tendons had enought time to heal and to respond to high loads once again.

strength is ok... on leg presses i am already capable of 15 reps with ò 440 pounds load, but i'm concerned about this patellas' issue, and i don't want to aggravate this situation, so i'm stoll not training legs in a regular way, only isometric, also on presses.

yes, we did it intentionally, we have been triyng to develope vastus medialis thru active training and electrosimulation, leaving vastus lateralis untouched, it partially worked and patella re-entereda little bit but not completely.

It seems like I have a propioceptive problem on left knee too, when flexed around 90" i feel like an acute pain, but it could be only a nervous reflex...

Therapist didnt operate when training but he used to phisically move the kneecaps towards the inner part of the knee.
