I ended up getting second

Well I just got back from the Border States in Cali. I ended up getting second in my class. I was a bit disappointed but I also understand that figure is tough because unlike bodybuilding sometimes you are comparing apples to oranges. The girl who won was softer and had bigger quads with MUCH weaker shoulders. None the less we had a great time Dusty will put up some pics in this thread in a minute.

I saw the pics and the overall winner didnt look impressive at all to me...No shape in the legs and really soft looking legs too...like you said though, apples and oranges...You looked great though...best conditioned up there for sure...

A judge told me she was too muscular for regional level shows and should only do National level shows if she wants to place better. Makes a ton of sense?

I'm not a huge follower of Figure, but from what I see from the photo's, you are definatley what is National level but too conditioned and muscular for a regional show. Regional shows go for the softer look.

I agree with the regional level shows and the softer look, but I do think it's funny. That would be like a Ronnie Coleman jumping into a regional level show and losing the overall. When he asks why they would respond " you look like Mr. Olympia and at these Regional level shows we are looking for guys who are smaller and less ripped.

It's all good though, the one thing I have learned from training figure girls is you need to bring them in the way that they look best and hope that is the look the judges like on that day.

Wow hotfigure you look great. I just don't understand how the judging works for any comp, whether it is figure or bodybuilding? Too hard for a regional show, but good for a national show How can a regional show have different criteria than a national show. Figure is figure, no matter what level show it is. All in all you look much better than the girl who placed first. Good Job!!!

For what its worth you looked really good! I say take the judges advice and move up!!!

HF, you looked amazing. Now this is the only reason i do not like figure shows...........The judging! You were a clear winner on stage. Everything fit, you still had great femininity and your overall symmetry was spot on. But for the judges to say you were too muscular for a regional show........Sorry but I have to question the standard of judging then. If they want a miss california pagent then that's what they should do. Tell the competitors they want soft non muscular bathing beauties and not fit looking athletes.

I could go on and rant about the state of womens competition but that would ruin this thread.

HF you looked tremendous and were the winner by a California mile. Great job and congrats on your placing.

Thanks everyone for the compliments. The shhow was still a lot of fun and I think it is important that athlete's understand that this is a subjective sport. Sometimes they will like your look and sometimes they won't. That being said we must be doing something right because second is the worst I have done in years.

All I know is I was happy with my look and so was Dusty. If he is happy with your physique then you must be doing something right, because it takes a lot to impress him.

When I did not place on my show-I went to ask "why"-They told me-too much muscle on your legs/....than I just said"thank you"..but a girl behind me asked them"is this a model show or fitness?......strong healthy girls or anore....?
