I was at work on friday and I got this strange feeling like I was going to pass out and got dizzy(this had happened once before about 5 months ago). The feeling of almost passing out subsided within about 20 seconds but the dizziness remained at a minor level throughout the day. I work in sportsmedicine, so I had one of the nurses take my blood pressure and it was 160/110. She checked it again on tuesday and it was 181/110(although I had been running around at work prior to that reading). Over the past year my BP had been around the mid 140's/mid 90's which is also high.

To give you some background info I am 36, 5'10", 245 lbs. I am not ripped, but definitely not fat either. I do 13 weeks cycles on and the 13 weeks off. I am currently in my 7th week off, although I run GH year round at 2 IU per day(I up it during cycles). I am also on Effexor and Adderall for severe ADHD as well as Temazepam for sleep(and have sleep apnea as well but use a CPAP which has been effective).

While I know that the Adderall could be somewhat of a cause for the high BP, I don't really have an option due its effectiveness. I am also under an extraordinary amount of stress, but unfortunately those conditions I have no control of at this time, and my life has always been stressful anyways.

Does anyone else have similar blood pressure problems and if so what do you use to control it? My biggest concerns with BP meds is possible side effects as well as possible drug interactions with all the other shit I am taking.

ANy advice would greatly be appreciated.

Install a pressure relief valve in your brachial artery. lol.

My suggestion would be to hit the cardio hard, clean your diet up and make sure to kick the crap out of anyone that causes you extra stress. That'll help alot.

reduce sodium

this mineral, water is very sensitive to. It follwos it wherever it is. Reduce sodium in diet (less processed/fast foods, whole foods and behind the deli chkn and meats. Will help very much.
gooey

I have a friend that is on adderall and runs alot of gear and I think it is very dangerous to do them both. He has heart problems, high blood pressure and all kinds of othe things wrong with him. I think the main reason he has heart problems is beause he runs 1500 mg of test wk and 30 mg of adderall a day. I am just waiting for his heart to explode. I would say just dont cycle. shits just not made for some people. you should have your heart looked at

Something that worked for me was to start with 5-10 min of low-med intensity Cardio, 2-3 times a week.

I walked on a treadmill for 10 min before I would do legs, back and chest, just to warm up...but I notices my BP started to go down. I was pretty out of shape at that time.

Another miracle supplement that helped was GARLIC! Gel Caps...1-2 hours after taking some my BP would start to lower and I'd start feeling better.

I would suggest minor cardio and Garlic! :D

Two possibilities for BP meds are 1) diuretics, 2) a beta blocker like Atenolol. The nice thing about beta blockers is that they slow your heart rate down. It has to be the Adderall that's jacking up you pressure.

1. go to your doctor and get HCTZ. its first line therapy for HBP. Or if you are really concerned get a ACEi/HCTZ combo. this will help BP from 2 different routes. this will also help keep your kidneys from leaking protein which is a good idea.

2. reduce sodium, stop using adderall, its amphetamine, no wonder your BP is up.

3. clean up your diet and do some light cardio, try avoiding alot of caffeine as well.

SEE A DOCTOR!

PHIL HERNON: GO TO THE DOCTOR AND GET ON BP MEDICINE BEFORE YOU DIE TOO EARLY

This is the first logical feedback I've seen posted! This is not a question to be throwing out to a forum. Considering your multiple medical conditions & your multiple medications, you should have already been to a doctor!

Thanks Lou, but...

Mike Ross makes a great point. I am taking Lotrel, and it does just what Mike Ross said. But again, go to the doctor.

Thanks for all the input. I see the doctor who prescribes the Effexor and Adderall tommorrow and will see what he suggests. My research tells me that the Effexor may be the cause. Unfortunately, if it is the Adderall that has caused this then that could create problems. The problem is that without the adderall I am screwed and would not be able to live a normal functional life. I know that ADHD seems to be a dianosis that is overused, but in my case I had extensive testing which included actual brain mapping through EEG; all of which was performed by someone who is considered an expert worldwide. It was determined that I have one of the most severe ADHD that they have ever seen, but also have a genious IQ which allows me to compensate.

Anyways, my main goal with this thread was to see if others also have high BP and their experiences with the different meds. I am pretty sure that the doc will be putting me on a BP med and was just curious what drugs have and haven't worked for others and what the interactions were with AS. I also want to learn what side effects to expect.

see a doctor and get back to me. Effexor is not your problem. are you taking XR or regular?...i am in the pharmacological field and can help you out with the right medicine, etc. and NO I AM NOT A FUCKING sells rep. I have a Ph.D. for pete's sakes

SEE THE RIGHT SPECIALIST!

I think a doctor who is prescribing Effexor & Adderall is not the kind of specialist that addresses blood pressure problems. Describe all symptoms to him & ask if you need a referral to a specialist for them. Don't try to diagnose or come up with a solution. Put your energy into whether you are going to the right doctors to address the problems. It is very common that people need multiple specialists.

Just focus on what type of specialists you need. Let them handle understanding what's going on & how to solve it.

Remember you only have one body, so get a second opinion...not just the view of one doc.

realistically you will never be referred to a specialist for HBP. Any doctor who can read the JNC-VII guidelines for treating hypertension can treat it. JNC guidelines are the best to date and they work every time. Time again the guidelines have been proven correct.

please use google and search for a brief summary of the guidelines. i can post them but they are in pdf format and the board will not accept that.

knowledge is key, know your disease, and know how to treat it.

ONE KEY NOTE, EVEN THOUGH ALL OF THIS IS 100% CORRECT YOU MUST SEE A PHYSICIAN FOR THE NECESARY TESTING, ETC INVOLVED WITH TREATING HYPERTENSION. I CAN IN NO WAY ASSUME LIABILITY FOR YOU NOT DOING THIS AND TREATING YOURSELF. THESE STATEMENTS ARE ONLY FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES AND IN NO WAY ARE A DIAGNOSIS.

I agree get to a dr. I've been on BP medication for almost 2 years and it has had no side effect with any of my cycles. Most BP meds are a form of diueretic so it helps keep your water bloat to a minimum.
