Ideal resting heart rate?

low 70s

The normal range is 60-100 but smart people know that's not the REAL normal range. I've read 50-70 is ideal, or even less. What is everyone's usual resting heart rate and what do you feel it should really be?

what :banghead:

yes that is normal range, but what you must consider is your individual baseline. If that changes drastically and your still within range could be some under lying issues. When reviewing medical charts trends are far more important than just a single reading.

If you want to get technical, SA node fires electrical signal at 60-100 beats per minute. This range is optimal for profusion.

Mine is in the 50's, got a sleep study done and it was 42 - 45 sleeping and they freaked out said if it drops below 40 I was at risk for HF, then saw the doc and he laughed the report out of the office. Apparently brachycardia is the opposite of tachycardia and common in people with heart problems/failure/attacks etc. He saw that I was very active and young and healthy. It used to be in the 70's when heavier and gassing up, never did much T3 clen or ephedrine only caffeine and some nicotene. Tren GH and slin would make it rise as well.

My hr drops when I'm doing lots of cardiovascular sorta like I am now. I just checked and I'm at 64 beats per minute which is after having popped a bunch of far burning stims this morning. So I'm sure without the stims it's even better/lower. Intermittent fasting also seems to help.

Does anyone get a fast, pounding heartbeat after a meal?

Moves around from the high 50s-70s all in between.. The sys. # is what annoys me the most.... Seems to always be a tad higher than normal..

I'm dieting now and think it's going to slowly decrease over time. Weight seems to play a large role for me. Even with ephedrine, it was low

Chuck Norris!

Lower is going to be better for the most part unless there is a medical condition in the heart and that would be bradycardia. I read once back in the 80s in Muscle and Fitness that Chuck Norris had a resting heart rate at the time in the mid 40s. Generally, unless something is wrong with the conduction system/SA node, a lower heart rate means that the heart is so efficient at pumping a sufficient volume that it can beat slowly. Cardiac output = stroke volume X Heart rate. A high stroke volume is healthy and requires a lower rate.

That can happen as the demands for blood flow to the digestive system increase. Normally speaking though it should not be something that is real noticeable. This is why it is not recommended to exercise right after a big meal since digestion would be slowed down because so much blood is going to be routed to the muscles.

So at the hospital this morning before getting a CT scan, my heart rate stayed between 62-68 the whole time. I'm happy with that

my baseline normal has always been high all my life! around 88-90. I went to a heart specialist and he said some people just have high resting heart rates compared t others as long as its their baseline its fine.

Mine gets down into the high 50s post competition when I drop the stims, AAS and clean out for awhile...approaches 70 offseason when I'm a bit heavier and not doing much cardio (this range applies to the 215-240lbs version of me)

FWIW, when I was a much smaller version of myself (150-160lbs) in and after the infantry my resting heartrate was always low 50s and blood pressure almost clinically low - not sure whether that still has any impact on me now
