If you had to start all over...

If you had to start all over -bodybuilding-, knowing what you know now.

- What would your training split look like the first one, two or three years?
- What else might you change, cycles? Diet?

i would have trained less and ate more!

i would have also concentrated more on compound movements with correct form as well... i always did them but didnt care if the muscle was being worked i just wanted to get the weight up.....

same as km2000 and

i would have never juiced

Wasn't all that long ago, but I would have been religious with my cardio in the off season, used fewer carbs in my diet, and I would have eaten more (I would make great gains and then stop slamming more food and just chill at a weight for awhile--lost progress!). Also, I would have used lower volume/higher intensity training earlier on and somewhat related, I would have been more cognizant of my body's recovery needs (especially lower back).

If I knew then what I know now........I would have played tennis or golf and made millions!!!HAHAHAHA! Just kidding....kind of. I would train the way I am training now and kept a better diet. So pretty much what a few otheres have said.

Trained much lighter with higher reps and and more volume; my joints are a mess now.

definitely woulda trained a bit less and had my nutrition on key. I didn't know shit about nutrition until a year or two ago. I just lifted and ate whatever. Probably overtrained too. But oh well thats what its all about, learning from mistakes.

I would have...

DIET
Spent a couple years bulking up to the large I could have imagined myself. Then cut.
Ate more vegetables and less animal fats.

WORKOUT
Spent time really stretching prior to lifting. And trying to increase my flexability.
Done cardio a few times a week for my cardiovascular health, from day one.

JUICING
Not thought testosterone was so cool and kept it at maybe just two or three times natural physiological levels.
Used long esters only. Building scar tissue is not cool.
Not injected into other spots than my glutes and thighs. Getting an absess sucks.

OTHER
Not spent so much money on supplements.
Paid more money for a better gym.

I wouldn't have wasted so much money on supplements. As for workouts and diet, I'm still progressing daily. Protein and low glycemics and recovery are the most important things. "Supplements" are just that. They aren't shit without the basics.

I would have trained heavy with heavy compound movements. I would have lead a bodybuilder lifestyle/training before I started juicing.

Ohhh yah, I wouldnt have spent all my $$ on a year supply of Biotests "M" that didnt do shittttttttt

started younger, like 13-15 years old with just the basics. focused more on my diet at a younger age and eaten better. found a good good trainning partner

Would have relied MUCH MORE on fats than on carbs/pro to grow while staying lean.

Really feel I lost 3-4 years eating tons of carb in the "off-season" when it was really not needed. Then cutting them to the extreme while eating very low fat in a attempt to lose bf :(

Besides there would be no more off-season or bulking, whatever you call it, for me now... just a steady, patient good quality growth of lbm months after months.

i feel i went into it WAY WAY WAY too early. i wish i would have waited until around 30 and started then. i feel that i may have somewhat ruined my health because of a lack of knowledge on the subject when i was younger. part of me also wishes i would have never touched a needle...i dont know about you guys, but i feel the effects of aas can have a very psychologically (and physiologically) addictive effect. just my personal opinion

Me too. I remember thinking, the more I train, the bigger I'll get. I think this is a very common problem with guys new to the sport.

1. I would have spent my first few years powerlifting (raw) instead of bodybuilding.
2. I would have hired Justin Harris (Troponin, my nutritionist) much sooner.

I would have started with powerlifting for the first 5 years and then switch to my current DC schedule. And as someone else mentioned, I would have kept cardio in year around religously so I could look like a bodybuilder year around instead of just the couple of months around a show.

i would of concentrated more on my diet. made sure that was tip top shape. i wonder how many pounds i didn't gain because my diet sucked ass lol
