Beginners. Im not encouraging you but.. I just wanted to share that.. Ive included beer back into my diet and prep and have had great results in the past.

Sounds stupid as hell but.... seriously.. I got in the best shape of my life 2 years in a row and actually nailed it at 3 of 4 big shows those years , all the while drinking 2-3 light beers a day. Only 100 calories a piece and zero carbs, light beer is not as bad as you may think.

For me, it was a big part of rewarding myself after a long day of work, kids, training, cardio and many other responsibilities. Lets face it, we all live for rewards, so dont bust your balls too hard all the time.

Personally, I love downing a few after cardio or at night before bed. I even included it in my prep all the way up to the last weeks before the show. I was looking at this pic and felt that my condition surely didnt suffer..

umm.....lol, yeah, your conditioning didn't suffer a bit. Crazy vascularity!
 
how come beer wasnt included in my diet! lol unfortunately im not too much into beer but i havent had a cheat meal in so long i may have to start liking it hehe
 
Lately ive been enjoying the beer....so this gives me hope. Hottt and i were just discussing this the other day....prep and beer:D
 
I'm drinking a cold one right now my brother! I need to get my ass in the gym more often, cause I don't look like you!...yet that is. This is good info, and I like the previous post you had about drinking diet soda. I switched, and glad I did. Keep these awesome posts coming buddy, because they really do help me out! The tips along with your pics as proof help with my ambitions. Cheers!
 
I brew my own beer and have been for some time. I have been more serious about training during the past year so I give most of it away now....I just enjoy making it. I crafted a hefeweizen for a friend of mine a couple of months ago but, I am waiting for some North German Altbier to carbonate.....needss about 4 more weeks until it is ready to drink. I will be drinking some of that. I love thick malty dark german beer! Just in moderation......

Next on the list is a Cascade Pale ale with LOTS of Amarillo hops....yeah....
 
WOW!!! Never ever thought of it like that! To think the possibility of having a beer...and staying lean...ohhhhhhhh i am drooling!!!
 
MainEvent: bro, you were too much of a warrior to even ask for any cheats from me dude. You did deserve it though, but you got ripped as hell anyways...

Sadie: I was planning on offering a little.. How cool, get in great shape off season, deprive yourself a little now, then when the real diet starts you can reward yourself with beer, white rice and other goodies. ;)

P.S heck.. i wouldn't advise putting beer in your protein shake at night before bed but...

It will keep you leaner than even Skim milk because light beer doesnt have the 24 carbs/22sugars even though the calories are about the same.

Don't quote me but I think there was a study done by a professor in Grenada that showed beer hydrated better than water PWO

Alex, geez, that my friend, is shredded.

I have beer or wine about once a week. My gf is from Italy and does not eat without wine period except at breakfast so its sometimes hard to avoid it when you see it on the table every day!

I have already planned out my consumption for this weekend, I'm attending a final of a small sporting event that will have free martinis, wine, and beer, and I am having one martini, and one beer. WooHoo! Its, funny, twenty years ago I would have that and more b4 I even left the house for an event.

Alex, my training partner from two years ago who won the overall in multiple shows in my state cuts beer from his prep only a few days b4 the show. He stays peeled year round and he literally gets two beers at our gym after every workout, never missing. His metablolism is something with which I am not familiar.

Seriously, I've been dropping a 12 pack of light every weekend and still loosing fat week to week. Like you, I consider it a real treat after cardio.
 
I knew I have been missing something in my prep...well dang it, maybe next time around!

Im happy to hear your getting in shape and looking forward to those weekends.

During my prep, especially during the hot summer, I would do this.. (at home i would bust out my cardio).. run downstairs... throw 2 coors lights in the freezer.. jump in the shower.. they would get nice and freezing cold, I would down those suckers, get a nice little buzz. Then my post cardio meal was usually 2 packs of maple and brown sugar oats and 8 oz of steak.. It is good!

This past year, i dropped the beer and oats and never got quite the same condition. Im going back to what worked for me for several years...

Plus I never had an urge to cheat on my diet. I felt rewarded..Also seemed to help me sleep too..

Lenny: you seem to be doing great without it from your pics bro.. Not encouraging you but.. sure wouldnt hurt if your craving a couple

So I assume any light beer? I know in the offseason I love to have 2-3 with a meal sometimes. But I know everyone says it is bad so I feel so guilty afterwards and im in offseason. I bust my ass all week in the gym and work hard and feel like a reward sometimes. I like the taste of it but like I said I have always heard it is so bad.
