So I am in the gym this AM.....just finished my cardio. I decide to stretch out the chest thats a bit sore by doing a few light reps.. Someone had left 275 racked on my favorite flatbench. I proceed to unrack the barbell down to 135......however at this point I am preoccupied by looking at myself in the mirror as I unrack. Forgetting the fact that there is a 25 lb plate in front of the 45 lb plate I am taking off, the 25 lb drops off the barbell and right onto my fucking ANKLE!!!!!!!

Just had to rant....... feeling like an arrogant idiot!

we have all been there bro.......hope your ankle isn't too injured......did it get pretty swollen???
 
Should be ok.....it was more of a glance. Little swollen.....black and blue. Not too bad.
 
I've done that while looking up at a tv at my gym. Landed right on my pinkie toe and edge of foot. Hurt for a long time.

Hurts like hell, but you feel stupid for doing it, and try to act like everything is cool:p

Hope you didn't hurt the ankle. I feel for ya.
 
Don't feel bad bro, I've done it too. I was talking to my training partner in between sets and was unracking the plates off of a hammer strength incline press. I forgot about the 25 and just grabbed the 45 in the back. It came right on top of the arch of my foot!!!:eek::eek::eek:
 
Never done it but now will be extra careful not to, thanx for sharing lol

Doesnt mean i havent pulled some real boners just not that paticular one ;)
 
We've all been there.

One time I while working with a hammer strength shoulder press machine. I noticed two, really cute girls looking in our direction. My buddy had just finished his set and I started to remove the plates. I thought it would look tough if I took off two 45lb plates at a time. Well, one slipped out of my grip and banged my shin on its way to the floor. I handle pain extremely well but this had my almost puking. My shin was white and all the skin was stripped off for about 3 inches. It didnt even bleed, and I still have a slight scar there.
 
Nope, my training partner did it about 15 years ago...I went to get some water after squats and he was talking to someone, unloading 4 plates from one side of a bar on a squat rack. Well, with one side totally unloaded and him talking to our buddy, the empty end started to swing up and out, really slowly. I came back in time to see it like in slow motion, just catch the end of his nose. Wrong place, wrong time! He was basically ok, but his nose was broken and man, what a gusher!

Damn! I saw a cable snap on a lat pull down machine in college. Bar came down and slammed this dude's nose.....what a mess!
 
I was in my family gym alone once and was on the flat bench and ended up trapped under the bar, too much weight !!! schoolboy error

I know where your at, it happens, you just have to laugh

In high school this kid dropped a 25 on his big toe and it blew up super quick and he was in tears.The strength and conditioning coach asked if somone could take him to the ER as he was in so much pain,so I took him.They ended up drilling a hole in his toenail to relieve the pressure and I shit you not ,blood shot up to the ceiling like old faithful!! was unreal.
 
Not that long ago

Back in November I was attempting to close grip bench press. I had 315LBS and from the very top of the movement the barbell slipped out of my hand and landed directly on my sternum.
 
Nope, nothing like this has happened to me but then again, I live in a perfect world. :D:

happened to us all...and i bet you will be much more careful taking them plates off..:eek:
 
I draped a towel over the treadmill handle one day when I was doing a hard tempo run. So here I am galloping along at 9mph when suddenly the track just stops. I landed chest first into the control panel, bounced off it and almost went on my ass!!! My towel fell and got eaten by the track! Didn't help that the chick running next to me got a chuckle out of it.....crazy, mean spirited bitch.

ahhhhhh yeah...that feels great when that blood comes out! I busted 2 fingers between 2 weights and so many other ways. U still hurt like a MF'r after they do it but the pressure goes down so much. Its kind of like a soldering gun that they use but there only 1 use throw away's. they get instantly hot but as soon as u let go of the button it is cool. I remember trying that shit with a heated safety pin and when it went through after pushing so hard, IT WENT IN FAR ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
 
Ive had this happen too...

I was not really focused one day and I was doing some warm up sets. It was one of those workouts where time was super limited. Anyways yeah dropped the old 25lb plate on the foot. I screamed out "mother fu%&^@er". Then everyone kinda looked my way. Mind you, im quiet in the gym. I dont get loud but man that hurt like hell. Bruised up the top of my foot something fierce. I walked in a circle for about 2 minutes. Im actually laughing as I type this because looking back now it was pretty funny. Not at the time because it hurt so damn bad. What doesnt kill us makes us stronger, Right?:confused:
 
Two short stories to share:

In high school our football team was in the weight room doing a lift. One of the dorkiest little kids in school (who is now a professional concert pianist) was going to try and come out for the team so he figured he'd spend some time in the weight room. He was doing DB bench presses with 55's (he should have went for 15's). He got it up once and went to drop it on the floor...whoever used the bench before him didn't return their DBs to the rack so the kids finger got stuck between his DBs and the ones on the floor...the entire tip of his finger was ripped off from the first knuckle...blood everywhere. He was obviously in shock as he held up his hand and said "This isn't good, I'm a pianist!"

Second, I was at the gym training with a girl I like. We finished our lift and she challenged me to a 2 mile race on the treadmill. Being a big shot, I took up the offer. I kept it close with minimal effort and decided I would blow her away on the last lap...I cranked it up to max speed and yelled "See ya!" I stepped on the side of my foot destroying my ankle and fell off the treadmill. It wasn't embarrassing at all... :eek:
 
I clinked the head of my dong between two db's once doing laterals...sucked

I've caught my chin doing push presses once or twice

hit myself in the chin with a db kicking it up for a french press

oh, and here's a great one, it was the first time I decided to try a t-bar row, and well, I didn't really think it through as to why it should be done in a corner. I also didn't know to lock the handle behind the plate. Well, you can imagine what happened, started out okay but then the handle slide down, the plates fell off and I realized what was going to happen but just couldn't stop it...the bar flew up wacking me right in the ol' grundle.
