Injectable DNP

Has anyone tried this or heard of it? Apparently people have done it... and with very successful results:

hey guys, its been a while, but have any of you heard of a doctor out of tx in the 80's using injectable dnp and thyroid hormone to treat obesity? i read about it a long time ago but i found it again last night and realized it was injectable dnp he was using. the combined treatment worked wonders and the weight stayed off the patients when they stopped the dnp, but they stayed on the thyroid hormone. what do you guys think about this treatment and the injectable dnp? how would it be possible? discuss.

Dr. Totada Shanthaveerappa, 70, of atlanta, was arrested in 2005, accused of treating patients with unauthorized drugs and filing false insurance claims. The drugs: several not yet approved by the FDA, including dinitrophenol-a commercial weedkiller and insecticide- which Shanthaveerappa was injecting into patients. The strangest part, though, was that prosecutors couldn't claim that anybody was actually harmed by the treatments. Several people came forward and said tht the doctor- who faces 87 counts in fed. court- had actually saved their lives.

...but all I can find so far is fragmented message board posts. If anyone has experience/thoughts, please share. I've been tempted for years to try DNP, but the sides from oral use (in particualr: eye floaters) 'scare' me away. I already have eye floaters, so obviously I'm susceptible; and the one person who I know personally that tried oral DNP really F'd up his vision...
