has anyone here hit their sciatic nerve when doing a glute shot? If so, what happened?

Ya once..jumped like a mofo almost hit ceiling and pin in hand a bled like a mofo from churning it round. sciatic nerve as big as a garden hose. once ya hit it stay clear an inch or so each way! i figure i done 1000 pins. only hit one time. ill take those odds!

now for the most part i only do quad pins on vastus lateralus. never an issue. halfway between hip joint and knee. Butter. 1" 23-25 guage. never an issue.

Yep, I did it during my mis-spent youth. I thought I had it a little further to the outside than I did. It's something you'll remember. I jumped, twisted and yanked the pin out reflexively, then blood squirted out all over the white bathroom shower rug. Not cool. And it hurt for a couple days. Once was enough, it never happened again.

nope, proper training in medical technique is my advantage though. they teach you to break the glute down in quadrants and if you stay in correct quadrant you'll never hit the sciatic nerve. It runs close to your butt crack, so if you stay towards the upper/lateral aspect of your glute you'll be fine

A person would need alot more depth than a 1'' or 1.5'' needle to hit it?

Shit i'm under 15% bf and I feel like I have 1/2'' of fat before I even get to muscle!!

Yep, hit mine once. Freaked me right out. Jumped like a frog on a hot plate. The only thing I noticed was I had what's I guess called "foot drop" for a few weeks afterwards. It's where you'll be walking and the foot will sort of go limp for a quick second. Hasn't happened since then.
