i strained my neck and upper back last saturday when i was partner stunting and my flier fell on me and now i can't deadlift, shrug, or do any other kind of pulling movement. i'm already getting heat and estyme treatment but i was wondering what else i could do to speed up recovery and if there's anything i can do to keep my pulling muscles strong? i can still squat and bench fine, but yesterday when i was doing speed deadlifts it hurt just to lock out 275. so is there anything i can do or should i just not do any kind of pulling for a few weeks?
 
Are you getting ready for a PLing meet or a BBing show?

Sounds like a PL meet ("speed deadlifts", bench, squat, dead, etc.).

Regardless, I wouldn't push your luck. I'd stick with rows until you're better.
If you can't handle free weight rows, use a seated cable machine or Hammer Strength machine.
 
first thing i dont even want to know wtf "partner stunting" is
sound like something i did in my early 20's:D

second...why were you doing that 6 weeks out??
i'm scared to do anything close to a show, not to mention anything with the word "stunting" in it

watch the mirror close and work around it

if it starts to effect the look of your body and posing
then start to think about canceling the show:eek:
 
Shelby, i'm getting ready for a powerlifting meet. and i've tried doing rows and it still hurts the injured muscles. but i was able to do wide grip pull ups and lat pulls.
Tenny, i'm a cheerleader, and we had a football game last saturday and my coach wanted me to partner stunt to show the crowd something different. if it wasn't homecomming i would have said no, but it was our homecomming game so i kinda had to. and partner stunting is when i (base) and a small 95 lb girl (flyer) stunt without having any extra bases, so i toss her in the air by myself and will catch her feet at shoulder level or at extension (arms over my head) and then she can do a one footed pose (heel stretch, scorpion, lib., etc..).
