Last Friday on May 20th I had hiccups all day that started causing slightly chest discomfort. People at the gym urged me to go to the ER. Well, shortly after arriving my hiccups stopped but I was told I had a bit of a fever. The next two days afterward I started having chest pain located on just the right side, and I thought I strained a pec muscle, though I hadn't even worked out for a yet days by that point.

On Monday the chest pain had me return to the ER, although this time they did a chest x-ray and found I had a small case of pneumonia, which apparently explained the chest pain. They gave me a 5 day course of antibiotics, the chest pain ended by Tuesday, and now I feel almost completely fine. No more fever, chest pain etc., although my pulse rate is still a little high and a tad dehydrated. I did a test run at the gym yesterday doing 30 minutes of light cardio and abs. Do you guys think I'm fine enough to return to lifting without setting myself back?

Maybe I'll return tonight, but at the first instance of getting gassed or exhausted sooner than I otherwise would, I should just call it a night?

Thanks in advance for the input.

U should be good to go...just listen to ur body...warm up thoroughly, take ur time the first few days back.

What did the Doctor advise? Go with that.

such rational thought lol OP you should follow this but ill add some commentary for fun

How old are you, how did they describe it? Smoker? Did they want you to follow up to resolution? if you are a young guy and a non smoker and it was just a mild lobar consolidation id wait at least a week after finishing the abx and until all symptoms have resolved. Dont mess with PNA

If you are age 40 plus and a smoker you should probably get a follow up in a few weeks to make sure its resolved as xray isnt great at characterizing focal consolidations and can hide a BAC or other. If they want you to follow up then id take it easy until you do.

Dang good luck,,i would take one more week off,,stay hydrated .
