Per Rick Collins...if you thought it couldnt get worse, it just did. One thing though...I cant imagine it getting any worse after this unless the institute the death penality for AAS. So if you are selling juice-maybe it would be better to make your money in another field - like becomming a paid assasian. The penalties would not be as severe. All this for STEROIDS?! Do any of our congressmen have a lick of common sense?
I can see the reasons for the online Rx penalties...god forbid the average Joe, struggling with the economy, tries to save a buck by getting his outrageously prices meds online instead of from the corruptly rich pharmacutical giants...more of making the rich richer, and the poor will have to resort to extreme measures (Crime, suicide...) .
Im glad I personally retired from the biz but occassionally feel the need to post stuff like this and Obamas views on AAS (my last post about 1mo ago).
Heres the bad new:

Maximum Steroid Trafficking Sentences to Double

By Rick Collins, JD
www.cmgesq.com

Congress has unanimously passed a bill (H.R. 6353, S. 980) to place strict controls on Internet pharmacies. Sponsored by Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI) and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), the Ryan Haight Online Pharmacy Consumer Protection Act of 2008 (accessible online at http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h110-6353) is named for Ryan Haight, who died at 18 of a drug overdose in 2001 after he obtained Vicodin – not anabolic steroids – over the Internet. The bill was signed by President Bush on October 15, 2008, and became Public Law 110-425. Its most relevant amendments will take effect 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act (on or about April 13, 2009). The Act creates a new statute for offenses involving dispensing controlled substances by means of the Internet. The law attempts to clarify the laws regarding “rogue” online pharmacies and what constitutes a “valid prescription,” and also criminalizes certain advertising conduct in connection with such pharmacies. It also makes it easier for State Attorneys General to go after online pharmacies beyond their state borders.

However, the Act has far broader implications for steroid trafficking cases in general. Let’s look at the most significant changes.

Most importantly, the law increases the maximum sentence for distributing anabolic steroids (and other schedule III drugs) from 5 years to 10 years (up to 15 years if use of the drug causes death or serious bodily injury), as follows:

…in the case of any controlled substance in schedule III, such person shall be sentenced to a term of imprisonment of not more than 10 years and if death or serious bodily injury results from the use of such substance shall be sentenced to a term of imprisonment of not more than 15 years, a fine not to exceed the greater of that authorized in accordance with the provisions of title 18, United States Code, or $500,000 if the defendant is an individual or $2,500,000 if the defendant is other than an individual, or both.

For those with a prior drug conviction, the maximum increases from 10 to 20 years (up to 30 years if use of the drug causes death or serious bodily injury), as follows:

If any person commits such a violation after a prior conviction for a felony drug offense has become final, such person shall be sentenced to a term of imprisonment of not more than 20 years and if death or serious bodily injury results from the use of such substance shall be sentenced to a term of imprisonment of not more than 30 years, a fine not to exceed the greater of twice that authorized in accordance with the provisions of title 18, United States Code, or $1,000,000 if the defendant is an individual or $5,000,000 if the defendant is other than an individual, or both.

The increases also apply to possession with intent to distribute, steroid importation and exportation crimes, and to the new Internet crimes. The law also increases penalties for crimes involving Schedule IV and V drugs.

The Act suggests that the new maximum penalties themselves should not be the “sole reason” for the United States Sentencing Commission to enhance the federal sentencing guidelines, as follows:

SENTENCING GUIDELINES- The United States Sentencing Commission, in determining whether to amend, or establish new, guidelines or policy statements, to conform the Federal sentencing guidelines and policy statements to this Act and the amendments made by this Act, should not construe any change in the maximum penalty for a violation involving a controlled substance in a particular schedule as being the sole reason to amend, or establish a new, guideline or policy statement.

That being said, it seems very likely that the Commission will conduct a fact-finding process to determine what if any amendments to the guidelines are called for based on the new law. The War on Steroid Trafficking is poised to launch into a higher gear next year.

I AGREE MIKE.. but, we also have to realize that this was not about steroids per sea but, all drugs scheduled the same as steroids.. one kid died as a result of vicodin overdose and this started rolling ... truly silly.. death from alcohol and tobacco dont seem to bother them.. but, all else is satanic.. why? because most of the idiots making these laws smoke and drink.. dont want to lose that..

Absolutely true, LATS.
One guy dies from Ephedra...
or
One guy dies from Vicodan...
These congressmen go apeshit with the politically correct knee jerk over-reaction. But the amount of people who are dying from tobacco and alcohol...staggering. And noone blinks an eye.
Who the hell died from AAS though?

DAN KOTE HAD SOME KID OD IN NY A FEW YEARS BACK I THINK FROM XANAX OR VICODIN I CANT REMEMBER

P.O.S WONDER IF THATS HIM!'

SO BASICALLY THEY ARE EXTENDING OUR SENTENCES FOR JUICE CONVICTIONS?

WONDER IF OBAMA OR MCCAIN WOULD HAVE THE BALLS TO RELOOK AT THSES LAWS REGARDING DRUGS IN GENERAL.. pretty sad when a guy does 10 years for pot dist (like what happened in my area) and the same week a guy gets 4 years for murder.. pretty messed up..

McCain is one of the MAIN PUSHERS of HARSHER sentences!!!! He's been at the forfront of all of this. He wants to put more people behind bars, make stricter laws and harsher punishments for 1st time affenders!! And that's just weed, so imagine how he goes about everything else. He feels that rehabilitation doesn't work. This man wants everyone that isn't a P.O.W locked up!

i doubt it. and if they did change it they'd probably make the penalties steeper... ron paul would have fixed it

While that may be true, Biden (Obama's VP) is the worst of them all. If you saw Bigger, Faster, Stronger, he was complaining about steroids in it.

Here is a good read:

Many people had never even heard of Joe Biden before Barak Obama picked him as his Vice President candidate. But after Biden became one half of the duo looking to upstage McCain and Palin’s march to the Whitehouse, he’s been on the news quite a bit. And not a whole lot of it has been positive as people have attacked his ultra-conservatism even though he’s a Democrat. To be honest, Joe Biden is far worse for steroid users than John McCain could ever hope to be as he makes McCain look like a saint.

If you’ve ever wondered who was the driving force behind making steroids a Schedule III drug you will wonder no longer as it was indeed Joe Bidden. Now, because of their Schedule III status classifying steroids like morphine, GHB, Special K and opium, a person can go to jail for a whole year just for possession of anabolic steroids without a prescription and they can go to prison for 10 years for dealing steroids.

But Biden didn’t want to just stop at pushing to make steroids a Schedule III offense as he also wanted to take money that the American government had sat aside for international aid and instead use it to bolster efforts to sweep through other countries and arrest international drug dealers. Great idea: Use the money we send to help out other countries and make them like us to instead run through their country with armed DEA agents looking for drug lords. All the while making the residents of the country hate the United States even more for doing as they please in foreign countries.

Similar to McCain, Joe Biden is also totally against the usage of steroids in sports and will stop at nothing to make sure that as few athletes are juicing as possible. Even if this means taking away the rights of average, everyday citizens to use steroids cosmetically - even under a doctor's supervision - in an effort to build the best body that they possibly can.

At least there’s some relief with Barak Obama and Sarah Palin in regards to steroids as neither have used the issue to build up their political credentials. About the only reference between steroids and Sarah Palin that I’ve ever heard is the comment made that she’s “Dan Quayle on steroids”. Obama has been pretty light in his stance on roids too but that doesn’t mean there will be any overall relief for juicers.

No matter who gets elected, whether it be Obama or if it’s McCain, you’re still going to have a steroid hater in one of the top two governmental positions in the United States. Some might say that the scenario where McCain gets elected could be worse because he would ultimately be the President of the United States. On the other hand though, Joe Biden has had an even worse record opposing steroids in the past than McCain and we’ve all seen how much power a Vice President can hold ever since Dick Cheney tagged along into the Oval Office with George W. Bush.

But no matter who gets the Presidential nod, I think that steroid users could be in trouble either way. I don’t think that I’ve ever seen a potential President or VP as fiercely against steroids as McCain and Biden are. And who knows what will happen to steroid laws when the 08’ presidential election is over and either one gets into the Whitehouse. All I know is that I’m really divided on where I will cast my vote as both sides of the ticket present a lose-lose situation. Thankful that both McCain and Biden aren’t on the same ticket otherwise we’d really be F---ed.

SCREWED

WELL WHO EVER GETS IN OFFICE WE ARE ALL SCREWED CAUSE THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THEMSELVES AND NOBODY ELSE:mad:

So what would be the sentence for someone ordering and receiving said bath salts?

Either way we are all screwed. To hell with all these rules steroids kill less then cigs, beer, an both those are legal not only that but if you use steroids correctly you can have positive results with very little or no negative side effects at all which is not possible with cigs, an beer there is no right way to use them either way your destroying your liver an lungs among other things.

i dont understand why people are so excited about voting for either McCain or Obama. they both mean the same thing to me.

we need to figure our shit out quick on this, there are too many people doing too much time for stupid little crimes, and all at cost to taxpayers, its ridiculous...

I got it............

VOTE INDEPENDANT! Okay sorry for that. The drug sentencing guidlines are whack, and have been for years.

alcohol and tobacco are big pocket lining industries..Think they would listen to the likes of us, if we could "donate" money to their campaigns? Bet your ass they would..

MR Senator..I seem to have a 5star, exclusive vacation..I mean fact finding mission..to tahiti..Would you like to use it in exchange for your vote on our bills?

Lets not get too political and offtrack, but here is a thread which I started recently on the position of Obama in regards to AAS...
No need to comment or start a political debate...but read and decide if the info is important in your decision as you vote.

if he would not have picked biden of all people then he would be "our" friend.. that being said, he is more "friendly" than mccain.. but, the biden thing scares me.. how out of touch do these politician have to be to get elected..?

Well they are both the same in regards to the fact that they are both running for president... but they do not mean the same thing at all. I can tell you the clear difference between the two on all of the important issues.
