Install Office 2003 on Laptop with no CD drive

I got 2007 Office for my home PC, but have an old copy of 2003.

I would like to install it on my daughters netbook, but it does not have a CD drive.

Reading up on it, every post says to simply use a Flash Drive.

Well, thats all fine dandy if you have some clue on what you are doing. I do not...

Can someone give me some basic instructions on how to acomplish this?

Or, would it be easier to by this $7 used external optical drive and load it that way?

Buy a portable external CD drive. Not sure how much they are, but im sure they are very cheap, or ask around people you know if you can just borrow it. I had to do the same thing with my fiances netbook.

easy way would be the external drive. besides you may need it for something else on down the road.

Drag all the items (control+A highlights all) on the office 2003 cd to USB drive from another computer. Plug the usb drive into your daughters computer. Double click the setup.exe file to install. Run through the set up

The correct response is EVEN better. And that is debatable

I did the exact thing with my daughters net book last week. I went to best buy and spent $50 on an external DVD drive. I didn't think of the flash drive option. Thats cheaper. It ain't easy being a technical dunderhead.

Yeah I would have to agree with copying all contents to flash drive and running the setup.exe right off of the flash drive.

This way your not out money for the external drive and you can do it right now. just my .02

I have to disagree with you all, I think a direct download is by far the easiest.

Plenty of sites will let you download it as soon as you purchase and still send you a CD in case you need to do a fresh install at some point.

Office 2007 on multiple PC's

Did you know that you can legally, with MS's blessing, install Office 2007 on multiple PC's?

So, you're installing Office 2007 on your home desktop. However, if you're not installing a second copy of Office 2007 on your own laptop I suggest you install Office 2007 on your daughter's netbook. You are entitled to have two licensed installations simultaneously so why give her 2003 when she can legally have 2007.

Before proceeding please read the EULA that came with the product to confirm your rights pertaining to your particular version of Office 2007.
