Insulin advice for first time user

i've already done as much research as i could find on here. read everything by gavin and others. and i want to use insulin for the first time. i'm competing in the jr nats in june, and have about 7 more weeks of bulking. just raised my cals from around 3500 to over 5000, to try to put on some weight. my stats are:

29yrs old
202lbs
5' 7 1/2"
around 15-18% bf
8 yrs of AAS usage
3 yrs of competing

i'll be taking humalog and for the next 7 weeks. i'll be on 750mg test blend, 400 EQ/week. i'm trying to get up to around 215-220 before cutting. and i'll be competing at 176lbs. i was planning to start out with 2 iu post workout/training days. which will be mon, wed, and fri. i'm training doggcrapp principles during this time. my question is, i don't know how much i should go up, and how fast? it's one thing to read all the info i could find, but i'd rather get some more PERSONALIZED advise, from knowing more about me and my goals. thanks ahead of time for the help.
 
I dont think its a good idea the start a "bulker" at 18%BF. I think it may make it very hard on yourelf dieting.

There is an artcle I read on the Synthetec Industries site that was a complete layout on how a first time insulin user should go about dosing.

i'm not just STARTING bulking right now. i've been for about 8 weeks already and gained about 12 lbs. i just want to put on some more, the next 7 weeks. and i'm probably closer to 15 or 16%. i still have a 6 pack, it's just slightly bloated and you can grab about an inch and a half of fat. so, i'm not fat by any means and have plenty of room to gain more. and i hold fat a lil differently, i walk onstage at 7-8% and look 5-6%. so, at 16%, i'm still fairly lean and veiny.

and dieting is very easy for me, i shed the fat really quickly. my body doesn't like holding fat. that's my problem, no matter what i do(eating a ton of fast food), i can't gain the weight.
 
looks like you are doing the jr nats, I'll be there too...
I would start with what you have in your post, 2 iu 3 days a week, depending on your sensativity you will know how to gauge it. insulin works very well for building mass if you know your body and dose properly, as far as you question goes for the first time using it I would not go above 6-7 iu a day, imo insulin split up into 3 doses through out the day a few days a week( gavins protocol) will work the best for lean muscle gain and keeping your sensitivity. I would stary with just pw and see how your gains go, if you are not seeing the result you want try 2 in the morn and 2 pw. I'm sure you know about the carbs to be ingested and so forth, I always keep some honey close by just in case I go hypo too... gook luck!
 
Stay away from fats brotha,, cause that 18% will jump up fast with slin if you eat alot of fats.

I have read so many articles on slin use its rediculous..lol But you have to try which you think will suit you and experiement , once you find your g-spot lets say then stick with it. I know if you read about the slin use you will already have a carb plan in place.. Always start out with a lower dose to be on the safe side also.. then work your way up.. IMO
 
Yes!!! on days you use Insulin avoid all fats!!! No nuts, oils, red meats ect....stick to lean sources of protein and good carbs. I would also suggest using waxy maize with insulin.

i've never heard of waxy maize, what is it and how should i use it. btw, what's an easy rule of thumb for the carbs on taking in 2 iu's post workout? i'm hopin someone could say, just eat and drink "this and that" i keep reading all these different ways to do stuff and it's making my head spin. i already go hypo at times, so i'm a lil worried about taking slin.

awesome! thanks bro. i'll give it a try. that seems better then dextrose, even without using slin.
 
I wouldn't worry about going hypo. Humalog only peaks once and it's relatively quick (under 2 hours). Everyone's insulin resistance is going to be a little different. It's going to be trial and error for you. Like was said above, start with 2iu and gauge your gains. Go up at a rate of 1iu at a time. I highly highly doubt 2iu will make you feel hypo, but you never know. When I used slin, I just made sure I kept a bottle of gatorade nearby for at least 2 hours after a shot. If you start to feel spaced out, take a few sips.

I've heard that a basic rule of thumb is 10g of carbs for every 1iu taken... But I don't see how that can be true with everyone...

Its a basic rule of thumb but not true for everyone. My sweet spot is 7gm per IU while yours may be 9 or 10. It takes some very careful experimentation to find your individual number, including using a BG meter. You dont want to be consuming excess carbs if not needed.

If using humalog, isnt it only active for up to 5hrs. So if using it PWO only, wouldnt it be ok to have fats in the morning then more fats 5hrs after the PWO shot? How do you know when its ok to add fats? What should the BSL meter read?
