People hear what they want to hear, and derive meaning from things that don’t necessarily have deeper or misunderstood layers.

Only a handful of pros make a living by competing. ALL other pros use their status to create alternative sources of income. Almost zero pros compete and hide without using social media for clients, sponsors, etc. He does “make money” as a pro, just not in the same way guys in the 90’s and 2000’s did.
The culture has changed forever. Not everyone has the same goal. If a person turns pro, but they can’t be the best, what’s the acceptable thing to do? Quit? Pretend and say they’re trying to be the best in the world? What makes people gullible by listening to Todd versus some guy from the 90’s saying “test, deca, and dbol worked for me, but I can’t explain why.”?
People are going to have different ideas, different lives, different goals. You don’t have to agree with any of them, but they don’t have to share your opinions for theirs to be valid.
