Is Beer that harmful while bulking?

I'm just curious as I'm very much trying to balance bodybuilding lifestyle with my own life style and not being so fanatical as I will never be a pro. How harmful is drinking 3 beers 3x per week while bulking???

Just test, no oral on cycle?
 
im sure its not good. bit usualy 3 beers 3xwk means. 3 beers then 3 more then lets go to the bar before you know it its 2am. and thats 3xwk. and then what the hell happend to my eyes they are yellow insted of blue. o its just my liver.
 
i believe it was Alex A who has 2-3 lite beers a day. but keep it at that beer lowers testosterone and raises estrogen not to mention there empty cals. alcohol is bad for your entire body liver,heart,brain ect ect..
 
i don't know. both test and alcohol can screw up your lipids and stress your liver. i wouldn't think its as bad as the guy that drinks a 6-pack every day. and i know a few who have done that for a long time without any serious health problems... for now

If you're really only drinking 3 beers 3 time a week I don't see what the big deal is. For me, "One is too many and a thousand is never enough." What I'd give to be capable of having just 3 beers. Shit! Just one beer would be cool. Alas, that will never happen. I'm destined to spend the rest of my life without another cold one. Much more preferable than the alternative though.
 
Probably not that big of a deal...but it really comes down to what your goals really are..If you want to compete and be a high level bodybuilder than I say no..dont drink..But if your just doing this for fun, then a few once or twice a week isnt that big of a deal...Its up to you, on what your goals are

Im having a Coors Light right now so its fine with me,shit. :)

I was having one at this point too lol... Luckily I don't drink that often so after about three beers I'm to the point where I'm not safe to drive for a while.
 
First of all any form of alcohol will raise your liver count.

Secondly beer is probably the worst of the drinks you can have as it does lower Test and raise Estrogen - this is scientifically proven!

IMO no beer, specially on cycle, although I do admit that come summertime, heat, beach, etc... those icy cold ones do go down smoothly but in the end it is your choice!
 
Alcohol And Why It Will Slow Your Progress...


Here is a post from the Director of Fitness at Naval Special Warfare Center and his thoughts on drinking...
(an excerpt)

Here are some of the effects of acute alcohol consumption on physical performance and adaptations to training:

Decreased aerobic capacity (reduces the body's ability to utilize oxygen to liberate energy during muscular contraction)
Decreased lactate threshold (more lactate accumulates in the muscles for a given amount of work, a condition associated with quicker fatigue)
Increased dehydration (if normal fluid intake is not increased to compensate for the diuretic effects of alcohol)
Reduced glycogen content in muscles (glycogen is the storage form of carbohydrate and is the primary fuel used by muscles; lack of glycogen is the primary cause of fatigue during physical evolutions that require stamina or endurance)
Decreased +protein synthesis+/increased protein catabolism by muscles (resulting in failure to add muscle mass or even loss of muscle mass)
Decreased ability to regulate body heat (resulting in a greater heat load for a given amount of work performed)
Interrupted sleep patterns (less rest and recovery)
Suppressed immune system (increasing susceptibility to bacteria and infectious diseases)
Increased Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE) for a given workload (meaning a pace that would ordinarily be comfortable will feel harder, and a pace that would ordinarily be difficult may become intolerable)

it seems like ON cycle is when you would want to do your beer drinking. The Test is endogenous anyway, so lowering it won't be significant (as you're probably shut down anyway).

Raising estrogen levels shouldn't be a problem since you should be on anti-E's or anti-Aromatese anyway.
 
I took about six months off from drinking which was really tough considering i'm in college...made some pretty good gains in the gym....started drinking again this summer....makin the same type of gains....if you're not gonna be an elite level bodybuilder then there's no reason to miss out on goin out and havin a few drinks w/ur friends b/c ur bodyfat might go from 6% to 7%...
 
have a few beers.. if youre not going to compete or anything then dont worry about it so much. Just keep in mind to be extra cautious and aware of your health. Dont torture yourself and miss out on a good time, just be that guy that can control himself lol. :D

Man drank beer for 10,000 years and now it is bad for you?

in all kinds of functions and probably acts as a probiotic assister.

I have never once drank a beer ... not ever. I had a battle with Vodka after my father passed away. I drank like no other for about 8 months straight. I still ate good, and i went to the gym. The only thing different was i got REALLY fat. Especially stomach and love handles.
My Dr told me (and i read it on the internet) that if you drink 3 or 4 shots of liquor ... or have 4 or more beers you body shuts down you fat burning abilities for 72 hours. He said no matter how much cardio and dieting the calories will always get stored as fat.
I totally believe that.

I drank... i got fat. I had never been "fat" before.

My opinion is just kick beer or anything alcohol to the curb. Those things and bodybuilding just dont mix. Also juice and alcohol was my ticket to jail after all the fights i would get in.

Alcohol has no benefit what so ever to your bodybuilding goals, so why drink?
Its no worse than if you asked "can I eat three snickers bars 3 times a week" but...well you see the point.
