IS being oxygen deprived good or bad for growth?

ok not sure how to ask this one, but here goes. Sometimes when I am pressed for time at the gym I will do sets back to back and take very little if any rest between, I go until i can't go on because I can't really breathe fast enough, but I just keep doin as much as i can. I guess what I am wondering is : are my muscles starving for oxygen ? and if so is this hindering them in any way? or is it good for them ( or me, or my heart ) to keep doin set after set until I am literally about to drop cuz i can't breathe? Is this a way to increase my stamina by demanding more work with less oxygen available ? keep in mind this is only during the last sets of my workout and not the whole time. I guess because my weights have gone down some because I am older I am doing this to "up the intensity" and it's kind of fun and challenging, also when I do finally HAVE to stop to catch my breath I like to feel how hard my heart is pounding , it feels like it's gonna bust right outta my chest.. it's pretty intense but it makes me feel so alive (maybe cuz it happens during sex also) anyway i Like it but am wondering if it is good or bad for me, or my heart or my muscle growth........ ANY input would be great and please don't say I 'm crazy, cuz I already know that. :D

I don't think being oxygen deprived is good for anything at all.

well

seems to me you are increasing intensity and should respond in a positive way. i don't think you are oxygen deprived because you are breathing like a locomotive. you are sucking in air at a higher rate but you are not depriving your lungs of oxygen as if you were underwater drowning. you probably will burn more fat because of this too.

To me, its great. Doing more work in a short amount of time is a way to increase intensity. Lactate levels are likely high as well, hence greater growth hormone production equaling more muscle and a decrease in body fat. If you stay with these workouts, strive to still increase your weights.

It is also great for your heart as well. Well unless you have heart issues, then I would consider consulting an expert. Our organs made to handle extreme conditions. I'm not sure if you know this, but marathon runners have been notorious for heart issues. Many would think they are the epitome of health, yet they drop dead from heart problems fairly frequently. Our hearts weren't made for that kind of long durational stress, they are made for intense work but shorter periods, which is what you are doing.

IMO being oxygen deprived isnt good for anything, except if your into auto erotic asphyxiation

mis-informed

breathing at an accelerated rate due to physical exertion is not being in a state of oxygen depravation. you are getting oxygen into your lungs and blood faster...your body compensates....you are not suffocating here. the only danger is if you have cardiac issues which most health athletes do not.

THANKS TOM

Yea I wasn't sure how to word it and I am breathing like a locomotive when it's happening, but it FEELS like I can't get enough air fast enough. I have never had asthma but I smoked weed and cigs for about 12 years, so I'm sure that didn't help.

Thanks bro

Appreciate your input and sounds good to me.

not good or bad bro
less rest and higher bpm = BIGGER CALORIE EXPENDITURE

thas about it as far as rest goes

i make all my clients not take noticable breaks. maybe 20 sec max

it just depends on waht kind of training youre seeking bro

5x5 i take my sweet ass time

when i train for endurance and tone bump the reps from 15+ then i try not to take breaks

Do you think depriving your brain of oxygen is beneficial?

Do you think depriving your brain of oxygen is beneficial?

bro that is rhetorical and common knowledge NO

breathing and respiration patterns can be achieved through practice so you intake sufficient oxygen and disperse carbon dioxide, hence you wont gas out, many ways of lung expansion

all you might have to worrry about with HIIT type training is lactic acid hindering your speed between sets and reps!

beta alanine is great to buffer that !
