is this really how phil heath trains?

I think there are only a few of us here who have actually seen Phil train in person. Instead of speculating and calling Phil a liar just take our word for it. IslandGirl, ParadiseCup, Skip, myself and a few others HAVE seen Phil train and he's not lying. Sure, some days his workouts were shorter than other but he was always busting his butt and while I didn't sit and count every set and rep, I can tell you he's into volume. Now, I haven't seen him train since he went pro so it could be different now.

I also think that Phil could train any way he wants to and he would still blow up.
 
Why is it so hard to belive. In the days of Samsons Gym Padilla,Chick,Goode Devito and several others would be in the gym for 3-4 hours doing set after set day after day.
Like said they would grow doing any routine. Thats why you can not go by the routines the elite use. Its useless for the average Joe.
I know guys who would go to the gym a couple x a week workout half ass with some light ass weights and blow up.

I suspect the warmups are included in there. Personally I do several sets even before I add any challenging weight to get the knots out of my elbows, shoulders etc. :D
 
pick up a FLEx magazine or muscle and fitness from the early 90s and you will see that same routine...

it has been like that for years and years
 
kind of looks like Arnolds routine in The Bodybuilding Encyclopedia, and look how big he got without the drugs and what not the sport has now.
 
I seriously doubt Phill heath has some type of magical routine. The guys biggest factor to his success are his genetics, I think he could work out with just free weights and still be where hes at today, or just machines.

Guys in this game its all about whose your Daddy and Mommy, your parents thats it. All routines are overated. Phil has genes that this sport hasn't seen in sometime. How else can someone appear out of nowhere in a matter of a few years and win 2 Pro shows as a rookie. I'll go as far as to say he doesn't even do half the amount of sauce many on this board use. Less is more. You either have it or you don't.

Dude won his first state show on Lee Labroda products only. That is a fact. If you cant win a state show on next to nothing......then good luck in this sport. You have it or you dont. Plain and simple.
