Jammed finger

Of course it's my middle finger... I did it over a month ago moving a king size mattress upstairs into our bedroom. We were going up the stairs and the mattress started leaning to the right and I was trying to keep it steady. It's still swollen and there is a little bit of bruising on one side of the knuckle. It still hurts to make a fist or put pressure on it.

Anyone every done this before? How long will it take to heal? I hate being injured. It sucks!

did you get it x-rayed? With me a jammed finger typically is 100% within a week. if its still swollen after a month it might be broken. I could be wrong of course, but if you haven't had it checked out i would.

You have probably reinjured the finger hundreds of times.

Anything that has to do with your hands or wrists especially fingers typically take a long time to heal. The reason being is that you use them so much. So a simple strained finger tendon could take months to heal as you keep reinjuring it over and over by doing simple things like twisting a bottle cap off.

My advice.....go to a pharmacy and buy one or with 2 popsicle sticks make your own but put the injured finger in a splint. This will segregate it and take it out of the equation of your daily activities. At night when you relax take the splint off and soak your finger in a cup of ice for 15 minutes. Put the splint back on for sleep so you don't reinjur it in your sleep. Within a week the finger should be fine.

No, we've had a lot of medical expenses this years and our insurance company has denied claims saying it's all pre-existing. I didn't go to have it x-rayed. I could move it so I didn't think it was broken. I still don't think it's broke. It's just sore around the knuckle. I do have trouble unscrewing bottle lids and it sore when making a fist.

Everlast is such a wonderful husband. He bought a finger split and fixed it for my finger. The swelling and bruising has almost gone away. I know it's still got away to go before it's totally healed up, but at least it's starting to look and feel better.
