I often go to Osaka for business trips.
Osaka is the anti-Tokyo. People here are more vibrant, more loud, and more expressive. I think it suits us Westerners a bit better. Osaka people find Tokyo-ites boring and dull. Conversely Tokyo people find Osaka-ites a bit uncouth but they love Osaka comedians.
This trip was during a Typhoon and I got out of Tokyo with just minutes to spare. You can see how empty the Bullet train's platform and seats are. All the train lines feeding into the station had shut down and I only just made it.
