In this clip, Roman Fritz discusses a conversation he had with Jay, claiming in his earlier career (from 2000-2001) 4 out of 6 meals had consisted of shakes. Only eating "proper" meals twice.
(P.S. He says only the protein component of the meal was replaced with a shake, the carbs still came from solid food.)
Roman has adopted a similar approach im the last couple months and he finds it works just the same as eating protein from whole foods. Only it takes less time to prepare and easier to digest.
I found this interesting as bodybuilding dogma has always nailed the idea in our heads that "real food" cannot be replaced with powders or supplements. While this is likely true to an extent, perhaps we shouldnt be so quick to judge those who rely on shakes. If it works, it works.
