Just a heads up for NAC users

I recently noticed just in time to cancel my order that my normal NAC complex (NAC, zinc, selenium, vit c, etc) that they kept the name the same but swapped out the N-Acetyl-Cystiene (NAC) for L-cystiene HCL. I ended up going with another NAC product altogether

I tried to look up the bioavailability and benefits to compare both but everything was very convoluted in the information and none mentioned routes of delivery, bioavailability, glutathione levels, etc.

Maybe someone else can elaborate more on the differences between the forms of cystiene as I'm sure the differences are big.

Anyways, just lookin' out.

Nothing. I mean, I was making a joke because we all know that inside the US that NAC was being pulled from shelves. The reason why is even more ridiculous.

You can still find NAC powder in bulk. I bought 2 kilos when the FDA started their BS. I should be good for a couple of years.

I guess I'm lucky. As they don't care here in Japan I can order the powder from My Protein without issue.

Couple weeks ago when I ordered from true nutrition they were out.

They pulled it a while back..as did a lot of places and a lot of products were re-formulated. There were Pre Workouts like PREJYM with it in the contents but not anymore. It's kind of wild all the way around...the FDA or whomever filed a motion that it was first studied as a drug and cannot be used in dietary supplements, many people pulled it, and recently they stated their stance is the same but they will not be going after anyone.

Last month, the FDA issued a new draft on guidance for the industry. The FDA is now considering permitting it as a dietary supplement. In the meantime it will only focus enforcement on NAC products that are promoted to prevent, cure, or treat disease and not products that just contain NAC.

I guess I'm lucky. As they don't care here in Japan I can order the powder from My Protein without issue.

Unfortunately it will be phased out. Truly unfortunate that it won’t be OTC anymore.

Thanks for the heads up. I bought from a bulk supplier a few months back. I just double checked and looks like they still have it. But I’ll read the fine print to make sure there is nothing I am missing. Guess I’ll put another order in sooner than later just in case.
