Saw some footage of Dorian the other day. Its been a long time since I looked at Dorian. Now I am a Brit who has been living in US for 15yrs(and love it) so maybe I am being a little patriotic here but when Yates competed in the Olympia for his first time I really think he beat Haney. Yates was the first bodybuilder who set the bar at that truly massive level, remember how thick and huge he was by his second year at the Olympia talk about gains, the guy was a true monster. It was a pleasure to see that footage of yates again, he dominated for a long time and I think he got ripped off when Haney beat him first time out. Peace.

Dorian had a great training partner. His name was Leroy. I wish he would train me!

I remember seeing Dorian guest pose at a bodybuilding show in orlando, FL back in I think 1996 or 1997. He was massive.

He was in my state recently, signing autographs or something. He's down to 200lbs or so.

yates took the muscularity round over coleman.I think haney got him on pecs and lats but yates got him on thighs and calves.Haney was pretty good though

Not the guy in the Blood n- Gutz Video is it?
Nothing against him (guy in video) But he annoyed the HELL outa me :D
I couldnt handle to much of that, maybe he was just whooping it up for the camera though.

Still my Favorite Video of em all! I just have to watch it without the sound.
Dorian`s the Man! Id say My favorite of all new or old

yeah, i thought dorian was better than haney on haney's last victory as well...

Yeah, that's him. I can see why he may seem annoying to some people. But to me he is a great motivator. I think he would help me get the most out of my workouts.

Dorian is #1

I used to train with an ex-pro from the late 70's early 80's. He had the chance to train with Dorian while he spent some time in the UK. He used to tell me some of the crazy ass training he would do. Animal strong was all big bert used to say. Dorian was one of the first real mass monsters of our sport. Had great lines and powerful looking muscle density some of todays pros could use. He also is a really down to earth guy.

I thought it was a bit much too, especially since Dorian's only on like his second rep and this guy is screaming "DRIVE IT UP!! AGAIN!! C'mON HELLSINKI?" or some shit like that.

If it were his last rep and he's not moving the bar, great. But right away? That's a bit much ... those are the types of guys that when I hear them yelling in the gym I decide to do my 20 pound dumbbell hip toss and slam the thing down like it weighs 200 pounds just to get thier attention like, "Hey asshole, you're not the only one in here..."

If being a good motivator was all it took for someone to listen then shit I got an army of them in my gym on a daily basis. Thing is, the guys they are yelling at don't look like much of anything... ehh.. maybe it's an east coast thing.

He probably wouldn't be yelling like he did in the video if he were in a crowded gym. Obviously that type of motivation worked for Dorian, otherwise he would have used a different training partner. It is an individual thing. I personally would love to have a trainer who is as interested in their partner as Leroy was. He really put his heart into helping Dorian.

Do you know Leroy personally? I didn't know that was his name until you posted it here.

For me, I do best training alone because partners can become a distraction. Of course, it'd help to have someone equally as strong and/or actually follow the workout 100% as you're doing so that both of you have the same goals, but in Dorian's case he found a guy who is loyal, always shows up, never has any excuses and does the exact same routine. I can't even find someone - if I wanted to - to consistently show up, let alone show up ON TIME. So I prefer the solo approach.

lol, no I don't know Leroy personally. I read an article by Dorian and Dorian mentioned his name. I think his last name is Davis, not sure though. I also train alone because partners talk too much between sets!

Im glad to see the response to Dorian, time goes by fast and he has been out of the spot light for a while now, when dorian came a long he forever changed bodybuilding with his physique and training aproach, Ive got to look back at him more often, all hail Yates!

The wife and I were shocked when we listened to him on the radio and he mentioned his "ex-wife" Debbie.
One of the reasons the wife liked Dorian was his love for his wife.:(

His bodybuilding career is over. After doing it for so long, just about everyone will call it quits.
