Yes, I know it's been awhile, but some how time just got away from me. I left my normal 8 to 5 job to help my husband run his business and it's taking up all my extra time. I haven't competed since 2008. That's ok, because I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and Arthritis, which has totally changed everything. Just when you think you have a handle on things, life throws you a curve ball. I did really good at managing my weight until 2020... Quarantine 15! For some reason this year has been a bunch of health issues that kept me from training. I ended last year with minor surgery and I'm ending this year with minor surgery. I'm hoping to be able to hit the gym in two weeks. I have started my diet. Our business was doing great up until 2020. We've got several great jobs on the book for 2021, so we things next year will be a good one.

Things I've learned about being over 50 (I mean 30 🤪):
  • Stretch, stretch and stretch some more!!!
  • If your body doesn't feel right, cut back on your weights.
  • On the good days, GO FOR IT!
  • Sleep is important!
  • You can't eat like you are 21
  • Find a good massage therapist
  • Have fun with friends and family and enjoy life!
  • Put down your phone and enjoy life
Feel free to add to this list. After all that's happened between 2020 and 2021, I still feel blessed.
Let me know what you've been up too.

I haven't set foot in a gym since 2008! I'm spoiled. Check out the home gym that Everlast set up for us!

I see ya got the Ironmaster brand equipment. I got the dumbbell set as well with the add/on’s to go to 165lbs. The rack looks like Ironmaster as well. Is that the self spotting one? If so how do you like it?

Grat advice on the injuries, ive been feeling some pain in the bottom of my bicep so dropped heavy barbell curls and taking a deload, not going to risk it. I don't want to be that person who goes around saying how much I lifted back I the day.....before I got (insert injury here). Train smart leave the ego at home.

Good to see you. If I am remembering you used to post on AFBoard some - forgot what name I used there for years but recently joined here for familiar faces. We are all getting older and hopefully wiser in balancing it and not sweating the sma stuff. Some challenges but glad to see you enjoying life. Cheers to a great 2022 for all!

It is Ironmaster equipment and we love it. Everlast uses the Ironmaster dumbbell and self-spotter. I like to use The Block dumbbells, but they only go up to 45 lbs. He has the Ironmaster's setup for 50+. The Hack Squat / Leg Press is a PowerTec Strength. It's all been really good equipment that I highly recommend.

great advice, how is your experience with chiropractors? any acupuncture? i like both . best wishes and god bless
I haven't been to either one.

Hey Mufasa123! Yes, I was at AFB and went by DixieChick. That name was taken here. Good to see your still around. Happy New year!

Thought that was it. I love my Ironmaster sets. You can go to their website and get the upgrades for those dumbbells. That’s what I did, I believe I got 3 upgrades to hit the 25lb-165lb dumbbell set.

I got several Powertec pieces as well. Solid group and good warranties! Reasonable on the prices too for what you get. Love their equipment!

My power cage is from powertec, I couldn't be more pleased with that purchase.

Still have my Powertec Cage from 2005. I’ve modified it many times over the years for add ons and such. Most attachments nowadays seem to be 3”x3” since newer racks are 3x3. Almost switched several times, but there’s nothing wrong with mine and it’s been dependable for 16 years!

It's been 2 weeks since my oral surgery. I go back to day to have the sutures removed. I'm hoping that he will say that I can start working out, since I started back yesterday. 😂 I did 10-15 min of cardio last week. This week I'm just training with very light weight. Anytime I have surgery I start off light and go back to focusing on form. You will be surprised what a difference that makes.

When my retina detached (this happened twice last year), my retina specialist wouldn't even let me do cardio. I spent 5 months out of the gym. In 30+ of training, this has been the longest I've missed training.

Snapped a shot of our leg machines. It converts to either a leg press or hack squat. Hoping to train legs this week.
Note: I need to talk to management about members who don't rack their weights. 🤣

Used to have that same model. But sold it years ago for a larger footprint leg press/hack squat machine. I did like that Powertec one though. Powertec had to send me new rollers though for mine. The original ones weren’t durable, and they modified mine with Teflon rollers. It was super smooth after that!

Im currently waiting on a leverage squat/calf rack to come in… Damn shipping delays though probably will keep it out to sea for another month.

@cage99 I would hate to have to order equipment right now. That would suck! We hit it just right and ordered our recumbent by just before the pandemic hit in 2019. It's been a great buy!

Yeah, this should be my last piece of equipment I buy… I gotta weld up some wall mountable weight horns to give me the floor space for the new machine. Basically get rid of my weight racks on the floor. Plus get rid of some of my son’s old bikes. Then I’ll pretty much have utilized 99% of the 410sqft I have available in my home gym. I hate public gyms which is why I started getting equipment for my gym back around 05-06’. I imagine it’s SOOOOOO much worse now with smartphones and social media.

Sounds like it's going to be really nice when it's all done. Gym's have gotten crazy lately. I'm so glad that I don't have to deal with it.

Doc removed the sutures. I had a bone graph and it's amazing how long it take to heal. I still have some limitations, but I did get the go ahead to work out. It feel good to be back in the gym. Good news is that I've lost 5 lbs. I was diagnosed with Rosacea in sept, so everything about my lifestyle triggers Rosacea! Stress, working out, hot showers (hot showers help my arthritis), alcohol, etc. Now that I've clean up my diet, it turns that eating trashy foods triggers my Rosacea. My face looks a lot better!

AF has been gone for several years. @MR. BMJ is around still. Ulter hasn’t been around for years.
