Don't get me started on Kaatsu -- wait I'm already relying to this thread haha.
Kaatsu is still huge here (though the fad is starting to slowly die out).
My concerns:
*Does your average trainee really need a huge GH spike?
*Should women who only train casually even bother? (women oftentimes have higher GH (in proportion) to men especially during menopause)
*LONG TERM EFFECTS OF ESSENTIALLY TOURNIQUETING YOURSELF?
*Quality of muscle (nerve connection may not be solid with GH-created muscle).
*Edit: The amount of GH produced via the Kaatsu effect can be up to 200%! A sudden spike in GH of this magnitude could possibly lead to negative effects. Since the amount of GH that may increase cannot be regulated (and if it can, I stand corrected), the GH increase reminds me of the way red blood cells may increase uncontrollably with EPO.
To purchase a full Kaatsu body "suit" that will make you look like a B-side 90's comic book character (
https://blog-imgs-38-origin.fc2.com/h/a/k/hakubayamatoya/kaatsu3s.jpg) will cost you about $500-600.
To become a certified Kaatsu trainer, all you need is a few days to attend a seminar, take a test, and pay a small nominal fee of $10,000.
