hi guys, haven't posted here in a damn long time as i have just been cruising on 200mgs of test e for about 5 months now.

In these past 5 months my blood pressure has soared through the roofI've been taking Lorsartan(cozaar) for 2 years now at a dose of 50mg (25 morning-25 night)....

Some days my blood pressure soars and stays at 150-160/85-95 taking lorsartan only lowers it to 148/81 at most before a bp reading
in the past month-two months or so it has stayed around that

i believe the lorsartan has become ineffective, is this the weakest ACE inhibitor?

so i'm coming to the community that always has lead me right.....is coming off of lorsartan and going on lisinopril 10mg + 12.5mg hctz a good plan?

I will also supplement carditone along with this.. is it worth the 35 bucks?

please note hawthorn root has never done anything for my bp as i take it twice per day for 2 years now along with a-z herbal complex as well

My cholesterol is shooting great and leveled numbers due to citrus bergamot also, if anyone is curious

cheers!

See a cardiologist, best thing you can do...Lisinipril is baby BP med brother...Being for real BP that high all the time almost killed me,and I was seeing a pcp that whole time...Find a good cardiologist and make an appointment...Mine went over 220/195...

what is your bodyfat, high bodyfat is a big contrubutor to BP. Losing fat and doing cardio should help if you are not already lean

What is your diet like? Current rough BF%/body weight? Those could be big factors in it, anytime I clean my diet up my BP drops immediately.

Check into Black seed oil, aka Black cummin, aka Nigella Sativa.
You can order it from Amazon or get it at most health food stores. It's proven to work as good, and better than a lot of scripted BP meds. Good luck bro.

You need a mild diuretic for your top number. I take 25 MG of Hydrochlorothiazid with 50 MG Lorsartan. I say split it day and night for best results.

Thanks for all the responses folks..
Good to know about lisinopril
I don't have insurance but ill be going to a cardiologist within 2 1/2 weeks from now.

Im 12% bodyfat , i do cardio steady state on incline 4 times per week 30 minutes per time

What is your diet like? Current rough BF%/body weight? Those could be big factors in it, anytime I clean my diet up my BP drops immediately.

diet consists of 4-5 clean meals , 6-8oz of chicken and rice
2 meals protein shakes and protein bars etc.

diet goes off track for 1-2 days per week

Check into Black seed oil, aka Black cummin, aka Nigella Sativa.

Black seed oil is also good for a number of other things. Helping joint pain is one of them. There is actually a general warning not to take it if you tend to have low BP. It works so good in that regard that it can drop it too low . Glad I could help friend. Keep us updated.

Taking 6 mgs of Cialis has helped me keep mine in check.
That and getting off the Tren.

DO NOT come off Losartan (it's definitely NOT the weakest as you have postulated). ACE/ARB have definitive benefits. You may need to be adjusted to a higher dose or started on a Beta Blocker. You may also need to be started on a mild diuretic antihypertensive like Hydrochlorothiazide.

Too many factors at work here to make an accurate diagnosis but please don't stop your therapy and substitute "bro-therapy" for lack of a better term.

Make sure diet is TIGHT
Consistent cardio
Large amounts of green veggies/some fruits
Carditone
Cialis

Once again thanks everyone for the feedback!

I can't take cialis because it gives me the driest nose and hot flashes. Being in a very humid and hot climate it doesn't work well for me. I have some serious allergies in the city pollution so this just exacerbates it. Even i can get it otc, its not something i liked before due to those sides

ill give black cumin/carditone a try along with my lorsartan
then another week
try lorsartan + hctz + carditone or black cumin

great ideas

thank you very much:)

While your diet may be clean it is not real healthy. More healthy fats and veggies could help.

As a 4th year med student, I can tell you how this would be managed at the top 10 hospital my school is associated with.

Technically, you only go on 2 drug therapy at systolic BP greater than 160 or diastolic greater than 100. 2 drug therapy isn't indicated for you and likely isn't necessary.

The dose of losartan you are on is 50mg which is the starting dose. You can increase that by itself.

Or you can switch to lisinopril by itself (its a once per day medication). 10 mg is a baby dose of lisinopril. Start at 20 and ditch the hydrocholorothiazide. Have your potassium checked a month later and if its high, lower the lisinopril and add the HCTZ. If you develop a cough that doesn't seem to go away while on lisinopril, switch back to losartan but at an increased dose.

Avoid the use of calcium channel blockers as they tend to have the worst side effect profile. However, consider them if dose increases and medication changes within a class are ineffective.

Carditone worked great for me but Divya Mukta Vat worked even better!!

10 mg lisinopril + 50/100 mg metoprolol works well for me, plus i add in cialis and Citrulline

Most herbal supplements work because they contain known compounds already used by traditional medicines. An example of this is the use of red yeast rice to lower cholesterol. Red yeast rice contains a statin. However, the dosing and quality can't be controlled in an herbal. Avoid herbals due to this issue. Not to mention they tend to be significantly more expensive. Lisinopril is on the $10 medication list at Walmart.

metoprolol (a beta blocker) isn't a first line medication for lowering blood pressure. It is less effective and has more side effects than ace inhibitors, thiazide duiretics, angiotensin receptor blockers, and calcium channel blockers. Do not request metoprolol or any other beta blocker as a therapy option for hypertension until therapy with first line medications has been tried and control is not achieved.

I would think of it like this:

There are DRUGS that really effectively (and specifically) reduce blood pressure, but there are also a lot of healthy supplements and habits that could also reduce blood pressure too.

The first and foremost thing we should try to do is simply lower our blood pressure. If that can be done with diet, supplements and healthy habits, that should be our first line of defense.

However, if diet and supplements do not adequately work, it is time to consider using drugs to lower blood pressure.

Drugs:
1) Carditone
This tends to be effective for many people. It costs $16/month for a regular dose, or $32/month for a double dose (twice a day). It is technically an herbal blend and not a "drug", but it contains a compound used in real blood pressure drugs, so it's a grey area.

The best thing about it, is that it's immediately available on Amazon, and doesn't require a prescription. In addition to lowering BP, it will also reduce your heart rate effectively. If this works, consider yourself lucky.

2) Lisinopril
This is a very commonly available prescription BP med, and works as an ACE inhibitor. It works well for many people, but requires a prescription. It is one of the medications on the low-cost list at Walmart, and should cost either $4 or $10 a month.

3) Telmisartan
This is a new generation blood pressure medication that not only controls BP, but also has other health benefits that have been written about. It is an angiotensin receptor blocker, ARB, which relaxes the blood vessels.

It slightly reduces water bloating, reverses damage to blood vessels, increases insulin sensitivity, and may reduce visceral fat. It is considered a longevity drug, in addition to a blood pressure medicine. It is available by prescription only, but is very expensive in the US.

Supplements:
Any supplements or products that increase nitric oxide or widen blood vessels should effectively, and naturally, lower blood pressure.

There are a variety of these. If they relax blood vessels, they can be used pre-workout too.

1) Citruline Malate
2) Beets (or beet root powder)
3) L-arginine

Others:
4) Fish oil
5) CoQ10

Foods that help reduce blood pressure are:
1) Raw nuts (those without hydrogenated oils)
2) Seeds
3) Vegetables
4) Berries
5) Healthy oils (olive, flaxseed, avocado, coconut)
