Kidney Damage

Hey guys

I just got a blood test back for my dog and the Vet said he has pretty bad Kidney damage. He is a minature collie 7 years old. Seems like it is pretty serious.

The vets don't seem very bright and i was not impressed with them in the past.

I was just curious if there are any supplements, drugs. that aid the kidneys. I've always heard cranberry extract for kidney protection but i don't know what good that will do at this point.
I know the liver can repair itself and there are alot of supplements for it but from what i understand the kidneys are harder to nurse back to health.

any advice / suggestions would be great

my ex wife breeds/trains dogs and she wasnt sure but said certain foods cause problems in certain breeds and thats all she said...

From what my knowlege is there's nothing u can really do? or is there supplements/drugs that may help
