So as some of y’all have read Covid vaccine and Covid killed 40% of my kidneys they say the term they referred to is 40% of arthrosclerosis that’s via kidney biopsy my EGFR is hovering right around 30 sometimes it goes down to 24 sometimes it goes up to 30. I’ve dropped about 50 pounds a good portion of that’s muscle just trying to reduce my blood volume so that my kidneys have to filter less. The hairs in the kidneys are not damaged. The tubes are wider from where my immune system attacked my kidneys and then there is the scarring which is permanent. I’m my blood pressure is fine so anyway several guys on here recommended astragalus And Taing and so what I’ve basically worked up to is 5 g of astragalus in this pic and then a tablespoon of taurine, which I know it’s kind of overkill, but it’s not expensive. I’d rather take too much and not enough and then a good friend of mine who is an IFBB pro Might give away who she is but if you know, you know, if you don’t, you don’t, it doesn’t matter she has lupus nephritis and when she saw that I had what I have she told me that another IFBB pro had recommended to her George Farah for whatever reason he knows something about kidneys. I don’t know a product called Dr. Christopher‘s kidney formula and so I’ve been taking that and that seems to be working I don’t have any edema in my hands and feet. My AGF are stable, but I think it can only improve so much because you know half my kidneys are dead if anybody else had anything to add I’ve asked for advice before and it’s been great I’ve tried a struggle extract. I’ve tried tying capsules all throughout the day I kind of feel like a teaspoon of astragalus and a tablespoon of taurine three times a day mixed with the Dr. Christophers Kidney formula. I think the recommended dose is two capsules away from food twice a day. I’m doing it. Three times a day seems to be the ticket. I’m open to any and all information or ideas what you’ve given me so far has definitely been productive. Also, even just opinions on nature cost I like the price but if the price is good because it’s trash, I’d like to know that as well I prefer the powder it tastes terrible but it’s easier to take 5 g of it with a scoop than it is to try and take you know 10 capsules so thank you IMG_7738.jpeg

I know there are typos I took more than 5 minutes to edit, sorry.

Are you taking any pharmaceutical medications either prescribed or sources other wise besides these supps?

I’m glad this was posted. I have (over the last 6 months or so) noticed edema in my ankles and feet.
it comes and goes, but seems to be worse on days when I have to spend a lot of time in my vehicle driving. I’m in medical sales so I cover about a third of North Carolina, lots of windshield time!

My blood pressure is a little high, it runs in my family, but nothing alarming. I usually run around 132/70, so my healthcare provider isn’t terribly bothered about that. I’m on telmisartan 40 mg. We know that that particular ARB can cause some edema, so we cut my dosage down and noticed no reduction in edema. Every time I have blood work done, my kidney functions are well within normal markers. And those numbers really don’t tend to fluctuate much whether I have the blood draw done during TRT or when I am in full pre-contest blast.

I’m willing to give the Dr. Christopher’s a chance, also going to pick up astragalus, per @luki7788 .

is there anything else that anyone can think to add along with this stuff that may help address the edema issue? Or any cause that I may not have mentioned or be addressing?
Thanks!

Buy compression anti-varicose socks - this is a must for every klutourist and I'm surprised you don't use them yet, especially if you drive a lot. I don't go on any car or plane trip without them. I also wear them all day long when I'm at home during my rest days. Another thing is to buy a roll under your legs to sleep so that they are always above the line of your heart at night.

I was reading one of the other edema/telmisartan threads that a couple of guys have successfully utilized hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg daily… What are your thoughts on this?

yes or indapamide 1.5mg a day - I did that for a good 10 years but now I stopped using it, although water retention in calves and ankles is something that 90% of bodybuilders have, especially during offseasons and it's nothing strange

Thank you so much for your quick replies and how you are always around to give great information!
One last thing on this and then I promise to leave you alone… With regard to compression socks. I did buy some several months back, but they didn’t seem to work very well. Maybe I bought a bad brand. Is there a brand or specific medical grade that you know of or would recommend for someone in the states?
Thank you again!

unfortunately I have no idea what you have on the market in the USA but if they "don't work" then either your size is too big or they are made of the wrong material the best are those without the addition of cotton only made of nylon and elastane

I'm really sorry you are dealing with that condition, and I hope it gets better for you! If it was me i would be very careful with what drugs and even supps i would use.
I would also alternate between low calorie and fasting, i know that is not what any of us want to hear but your condition calls for somewhat drastic measures. And lastly i really don't want to say it but i just don't trust nutricost, i tried a couple products a few months ago and i was disappointed with that. If i was you i would buy the very best quality astragalus. Best wishes man and stay positive!

This is a tough one as yours is likely related directly to medication. Many medications have this as a side effect. I had to change BP meds a few times due to this issue. Even on nebivolol I get slight hand and ankle swelling if I go to 10mgs. If your kidney and other numbers are good it sort of is what it is unless you change medication.

It is one of the most common reasons people have to change BP medications (behind itching/tingling)

Ok so what’s the best astragalus and I only eat tween 1-9 pm usually 3-9 pm but some days I’m running on 1 meal in 24 hours so I eat a venison patty a 1 pm with steamed veggies

Yea I’m on 1.25 mg of amplodimine and even that tiny dose can cause a touch of edema some days.
