Just measured my waist and it came out to 36.5" ....WTF? I have been doing a ton of cardio and watching what I eat (not deiting just eating cleaner) but I wasit stil measures at 36". I have been at this since March.
Now my abs relaxed look so-so at best but flexed look pretty good. I told myself I wanted my aist below a 33" for the summer but is that even possible? I am 5'9 230 around 12"
Is a 36.5" real big?
I just want to be like fuck getting ripped and justpack on the mass, LOL.
I don't know what else to do outside of just totally starting to deot to get my wasit lower.
Suggestions?
 
looks like that is what it is going to come down to. You are gonna have to go on a diet and do cardio.

For me, the mid-section is last place I lose fat :( I gotta get pretty lean everywhere else to lose the ab fat and esp the lower back.

Of course, it's also the first place fat returns on me! :mad: I'm trying to do the same as you for summer. We just need to get serious and focused bro!

yes 36.5" waist is way too big...

see what happens when you get down to 8%...I lost about 5" off my waist by bringing it down from 12-8...

while clean...which is no fun...

I have a 28" waist, but Im only 187 at 8% and 5'8"
 
Actually, 36' is not that big for 230lbs. It may be that you can only get your waist down to 34-35 inches, even at extremely low bf levels. You may have built up your abs and intercoastal over time and therefore will not have as small a waist as when you were younger. Don't sweat the small stuff. If you are tight in the middle and look good, who cares about measurements anyhoo. Just do like Cal does and say it's smaller than it really is.
 
sprints.. run 100 yrd sprints around a track, walk the curbs and run the straightaways. i used to do that all the time and my waist was tiny, like 30".
 
My waist never gets really small, no matter how low my bodyfat is. All the years of heavy deads and squats, plus weighted ab work have made my waist pretty thick. I'm still damn sexy though.
 
lol @ xcel. I didn't see that typo before.
My brother is honest and said I could work on my abs more but he also said being as big as I as I am that they aren't bad.
Yeah I hav built up my waist alot and it won'tbe down to a 28 or 29 no mattewr what but I thought 36 as too big. I guess if I can get to say 34.4 I can consider that a victory.
But no matter what I don't want to lose too much size and strengtrh just trying to get o single digit bodyfat levels or a low 30'3 wasit. Dropping to under 215 is out the question. I'd rather take my 230 and 236 wasit than be 210 or 205 with a 32" wasit.
 
The thing is - if you can retain most your LBM in dropping weight to get your abs, you'll "look" just as big IF NOT LARGER (at a lighter overall bodyweight).

yeah I have let my waist get pretty thick, but am able to get it down to 34" at about 11% BF..........good discussion though...would like to hear more
