I dunno if this is true or not but I found this on another board and they got it from bb.com. I wonder if its true. if it is true I wonder why Kamali. I like king kamali but why would PUMA want a bodybuilder and why not culter or ronnie?

IFBB PRO King Kamali signs 700'000 dollar a year deal with Puma

from bodybuilding.com...

"Bodybuilder King Kamali is on the cusp of signing one of the largest bodybuilding endorsement deals of all time, a PUMA official told Bodybuilding.com.

KingKamali.com reported over the weekend that the shoe and apparel company was ready to sign Kamali a New York resident to a 2 year deal "estimated to be worth in excess" of $1.4 million. That deal is however easily eclipsed by the five-year, $100 million deal Tiger Woods signed with Nike in 2000 and the seven-year, $90 million deal LeBron James signed with Nike in May of this year.

"We have a could have a very valuable partnership with King Kamali and we are excited about that," Puma spokesman Thomas Van Schaik said.

The report said that Kamali, who is a top level IFBB professional bodybuilder, would receive 1.4 million over two years would also get a "percentage of profits from the sale of sportswear and lucrative payments for promotional and PR work."

Thomas van Schaik is the Adidas spokesman.

Well if it is true good for King Kamali, bodybuilding needs to be portrayed in a positive light to mainstream audiences so this is good for the sport.

The chances of this being true are between slim and none. Van Schaik is the spokesman for Adidas not Puma, and no traditional athletic company is going to risk alienating the majority if it's consumers by sponsoring an athlete that quite obviously uses AAS.

It is simple economics, bodybuilders and their fans spend their money primarily on supplements and drugs. Athletic shoes and clothes are a distant 3rd or 4th.

If bodybuilders want to be portrayed in a positive light, then they need to start behaving in a positive way. There is nothing positive about a 290lb bodybuilding to mainstream society, and there probably never will be.

Interesting, I would figure that Puma would want some X using loser to endorse. That seems to be the brand of club tards.

I believe Adidas owns Puma
No. Adidas (which now owns Reebok) was started by Adolf & Rudolf Dassler. They had an disagreement, and Rudolf left and started Puma. They are still seperate companies.

I agree. What can King Kamali possibly offer Puma in return? Bodybuilders spend their disposable income on things OTHER than running shoes and track suits. That money is just being thrown away. The normal public will want to know why Puma is sponsoring a "juice pig"

did mainevent not start a thread sayin this same thing like a week ago that said Magnum confirmed this?

and hes his trainer....

Adding fuel to the fire here. Puma Does not just make shoes. They market a whole range of sporting products including athletic wear. It would not be hard to believe seeing KING in a PUMA track suit (custom made of course) and don't forget as BBers we wear shoes and clothes too. If it's good for KING then lots of other BBers will want them too.........see where this can go? So PUMA may be trying to get a little more market share from a community that others want to ignore!! I hope it is true. It would be a great day for Body Building!!

It was 3-4 days ago on getbig. Magnum confirmed it on the thread over there anyway. I dont think anything else has been confirmed/denied since.

Don't get me wrong. I hope that King DID get the sponsorship! Anything to help mainstream BB. I just am racking my brain on why KING? Why not for instance......any of the top 10 in this years Olympia?

Cutler, Ronnie, Martinez??

I would like to find out if this is indeed true and why. It would be interesting to see Puma's perspective on King.
