I think tajee spears (nfl running back) also has no acl. I had a quad tendon tear but very small, did require surgery...my whole leg shrunk too...but have made 110% recovery
My advice..
1. Don't do anything to fuck up the surgery, be careful moving, do not rush back to lifting (follow dr and pt advise).
2. Diet, goal not to get fat. Hell, I cut when I was recovering. Get lean, then when you resume lifting lean bulk. Keeping lean is more important than maintaining lbm, it'll all come back when you hit gym.
3. Find the best pt you can who works with athletes, not granny with a stiff neck. I use the same pt local nfl guys use. Do everything they say, take pt as serious as your training. How you rehab will determine how well you heal. Follow all advice, ask questions, don't do anything to risk re tear
