I am 50 yrs old.......I had my knee scoped in 1988........lateral release, ,medial reefing..........
So my right knee had been a problem since I had it scoped.......never really had the confidence to land and plant agressively on it after the surgery......
But in the last 10 years or so it has a tendency to swell up and hold fluid every once in a while.........
went to doctor....in 2007.......say PA.......took xrays.......he said structurely there was nothing wrong except i had arthritis......remember swelling went down after visit and only swelled up every so often......maybe once every 3 months.......
Fast forward to this summer.....swelling occurs more now and I find I cant play hoops, tennis, squat etc etc.........
So I go to appointment today thinking........."This time I am going to demand an MRI to see what exactly is wrong and why it fills up with fluid"..........
Well shit........again say a PA instead of a DR..........she runs xrays and says the same thing.........."Just arthritis"........I say are you sure we should not run an MRI to se if maybe when I had the surgery 23 yrs ago......maybe I screwed up and .......1. didnt do rehab like I should have........2. Torn something from maybe falling or stretching the wrong way before it was healed properly(I remember going to the bars in crutches and drinking......who knows......you know how single guys are in their 20's)........all shit that I may have done to screw things up.........
well anyway she says "An MRI would just be a waist of money because I can tell my a physical examination and xrays that structurally nothing is wrong except worn cartilage and arthritis"""...........
any suggestions............I have great insurance and I have been lead to believe that xrays wont show everything.................
Thanks for any advice..........at 50 I want to be some active and be able to run and jump just a little..........maybe not
