So my MD is running my TRT. Im 39 years old and am taking 20mg test cyp daily. Taking some OTC meds but nothing else as far as androgens. Here is my latest lab work before possibly adding in other compounds and/or increasing mt test dose. I have a cystatin C to be drawn within a few days. What is your general impression of this lab work? MD wants to pull my weekly maintenance dose down.

He knows and understands that I will be pushing androgen amounts up at some point. He agrees to monitor but doesn't agree.

It is reasonable to lower the T dose from a Dr perspective. As it is out of range and RBC is high.
I would start taking or taking more Vit D. I take 5000 units a day and have a level of 88 on that scale.

Everything looks decent.
Second on the recommendation to add vitamin D to your regimen. I’d also advocate dhea if you really want to dial things in.

Watch out for your kidneys. It’s normal for your creatinine to be elevated, assuming you take creatine.
However, you have that along with borderline high BUN and a borderline low GFR…. I’d avoid anything nephrotoxic

I have Ulcerative Colitis and its always low. However I have been slacking on taking my Vit D.

I take 10mg creatine daily. Really waiting to see what the cystatin c comes back as

This. My doc and I always do a Cystatin C test. I don't know if my BUN has ever not been high. You lift lots of heavy weight it will almost certainly be elevated. My doc isn't even really interested in it. We look at the Cystatin C test to get a more accurate idea of what's going on kidney wise. Mine is always in range.

Drink a full gallon plus of water the day before you do bloods and the rbc will look better

GFR is calculated based of creatinine.
if creatinine is high, GFR will be low
but i agreee, keep an eye on it. The cys C value will be helpful

You should calculate your egfr based on cystatin c if you are a bodybuilder. My lab actually gives me both the egfr based on creatinine and the one based on cystatin c. The former always looks bad, the latter okay.

exactly. but you usually pay for cys C, thats why some dont take it.
i have my nephrologist appointment tomorrow due to slightly elevated values (crea 1,31 ; cys C 1,14) and an enlarged right kidney (acc to my family doc)
but tbh, i assume i am fine. The timing of the draw was "suboptimal" (i was blasting for way to long and my body was intoxicated, i could feel that) and i was slightly dehydrated

Can I ask what the Vitamin D supplementation does? I currently take ot 3-4x a day because I was deficient.

It can raise Vit D levels in the blood. Best taken with fatty meals as it is fat soluble. Never known anyone to take it multiple times a day. You may want to spend some time reading up on it.

I do the sublingual drops as I got them free. It has a marginal effect for my levels. If I could get outside more thay would be golden.

88 is WAY too high. There is no benefit to going over 40-50 anywhere in the literature. Only harm.

I’d much rather have a level of 32 than 88. I would take 2000iu tops if my level came back at 32 to bump it a little as insurance but there is definitely a such thing as too high of a level.

The only thing I would raise an eyebrow at here is the kidney values but since you’re getting a Cystatin C result back soon, that should answer your question.

RDW is a little higher than you would like it to be. It COULD be some form of sleep apnea (or not). It can fluctuate a lot so let’s see if it is a pattern first.

I’d pop 1000-2000iu of Vitamin D with breakfast and no more than that.

Other than that, not bad…ApoB is pretty good. Are you on lipid lowering medication?

Oh I just noticed the C-Reactive protein is high, which is definitely something you want to get down. Did you train just before the blood draw or something? That could also explain the high creatinine.

No statins

The day before. I have ulcerative colitis so o have a lot.of inflammation. Even systemic

Your blood work looks as expected on that much testosterone. For health/longevity/hair line purposes consider dropping the test down to 100mg/wk but it doesn't sound like your interested in that. If you blast AAS expect the RBC to go up and the cholesterol to worsen, that's almost a guarantee, it happens to me every single time.
